I started playing a Paladin in WotLK. When was Avenger’s Shield added? I have a feeling it wasn’t in Vanilla.
It was added in BC and had a cast time. It was changed to instant cast in wrath.
if you’re wanting to pally tank. I’ve got some news for you…
At least once you hit 60
Paladin was my first Character in classic.
I quit for two years around the end of BC came back in the end of Wrath.
Completely hated the Paladin class. They turned it into one of the most faceroll, button mashing classes there was. Didn’t play a Paladin again till Warlords I believe.
What I’m trying to say is, expect something very, very different than a Wrath Paladin.
I’d honestly recommend you watch a few videos on the Paladin in classic. You will be spending alot of GCD’s on seals
Paladins are really good 5 man tanks. They do a bunch of reflective damage so they hold aggro on multiple mobs more easily than a warrior. The downside of that is that once they lose aggro it’s hard to get it back, especially without having a taunt.
Thanks for the help. I was playing with a talent calculator last night for my favorite classes and the absence of anything related to my favorite Paladin ability was missing. Looks like my first characters will be a Priest and a Druid since they have all the core abilities I like all the way back to Vanilla. (Other than flight form). Paladin will be for when I’m in the mood for new challenges.
If you play a Priest, make it a Dwarf. Dwarf Priests get an ability called Fear Ward that no other race has. Its unbelievably strong in dungeons and raids and people will be falling over themselves to invite you to their group if you’re a Dwarf.
