Can someone explain the Avenger’s Shield behavior? Does it only hit aggro’ed enemies? Or does it hit any mobs within certain distance?
I used avenger’s shield to pull the last pack before the mini torment boss on the right side of the entrance in HoA, but it also jumped to mini boss. If I just use other single target spell, they are not pulled together (threat not linked?).
Similar thing happens in SD with Divine Toll - the Overseer pack before the room with Head Custodian Javlin. It seems to be intermittent - was able to reproduce it when it happened. Haven’t seen it in 9.1 version. It was pretty bad in 9.05 because that is where the pride spawn with my route.
I think you answered your own question.
It bounces to whatever is within range.

I don’t recall it happened in the previous 2 weeks in HoA, but it could be that I was lucky - Avenger’s shield not up when I did that pull.
Will do a bit more testing and see how it behaves. Thanks!
It does whatever it wants basically. Always think before throwing a shield. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve accidentally double pulled where I shouldn’t have because I underestimated Avenger’s Shield’s range. If you’re in doubt, pull the pack with judgement and use avenger’s shield when they get close. Don’t worry too much about aggro. It’s usually very easy to take and keep aggro as a prot paladin.

When in doubt throw judgement out.
Sometimes shield jumps a bit further than you think, sometimes it doesn’t. Like the first 3 mobs in SoA, shield will usually hit the 2 on the left, but not bounce to the right. I’ve also had it hit just the one in the middle. Other times I’ve had it accidentally pull mobs that were further apart than those three.
