I haven’t seen the movie yet, but from what I can tell, I’m not gonna enjoy it.
I enjoyed the first movie when it came out when I was 14. Looking back, it was just Dances With Wolves with Aliens. Have you seen the 2nd movie? What do you think?

I’ve seen it. I wasn’t impressed.
It feels like narratively they where setting up for a different story but we shift to the water zone for…reasons?
I didn’t really like the 3D. Felt like the screen was just shoving crap in my face and the moments of blurs didn’t help.
What drove me especially crazy was the over-reliance on those stupid helicopter ships…you’d think by now that humanity would use something more effective and deadly like a jet fighter or something more advanced tactically speaking, maybe even adapting their tech to scan in areas like the floating rocks…or arrow proof glass shielding.
It also looked like most of their technology was still built for factory purposes in mind…I mean the exoskeletal suits just looked like a gimmick for regular humans without the armored suits…
Narratively speaking the plot points jump all over the place, sometimes I think humanity is so laughably stupid that they deserve extinction, yet on the other hand the natives are happy to sit on their hands as it’s become readily apparent over the one-year time skip right before the start of the film that the Sky-People aren’t being kicked off Pandora as easily as last time, especially when you have unobtanium all over the mainland and immortal whale brain juice in the seas.
These where glossed over as the plot became more emotionally centered around the colonel and sullys game of cat and mouse, with a huge pause where Sullys family adjust to life with the water tribes.
It’s likely the biggest highlight of the film, though I was personally a little disorientated with the 3D. Doesn’t feel like 3D is for you if you wear prescription glasses, though I haven’t watched 3D in years so can’t make a fair call on whether it was good or not.
Oh and this movie is long…like 3 hours long.
I’d like to watch it but I’ll wait for it to hit bluray. I wouldn’t be able to sit for 3+ hours in a cinema.
I saw the movie, and enjoyed it. Blown away? No. The three hours in the movie theater didn’t feel like it, IMO.
13 years have passed since the original Avatar. Many people have forgotten and moved on already.
I didn’t go see it nor I had any desire to do so but I heard its pretty much same story from 1st film and story wasn’t that good.
Heh, I figured years ago that it’s gonna be the same plot. I don’t understand how can James Cameron, the guy who gave us Terminator, Aliens, The Abyss, and Titanic end up like a hack.
That because Hollywood had ran out on ideas how to make good movies or won’t take risks. Now you see is reboots, remakes, sequel, prequel and superheroes films.
Was good franchise until dark fate came out and killed off the franchise.
I loved that franchise and I don’t find the Alien 3 a bad just another retold from the 1st film and was better film than Resurrection.
I need to see that film.
I hated that film so much…that another thing, why do we need to make a film that is 3+ hours long?
