Mathing out that I’ll be spending 39 hours waiting in queue to acquire the 13 or so hours it will take playing AV to hit exalted doesn’t inspire me to keep doing PvP. This needs to be fixed, xrealm is fine, these queue times are atrocious. Don’t even ask about horde side WSG; no, AB will not fix anything after the first week.
All anyone wants is to play the game, and currently BGs are 2/3 of in game time spent sitting in queue. Forget about this or that about imbalance on the AV map; fix the queue times.
You failed to mention that…2/3 of the population who are pvping are horde. It’s sinple math which is the root cause of your long queue…it will not change if you stay horde
And somehow TBC bgs never saw this problem despite the populations staying the same. Overall, populations sizes are balanced. Within battlegroups, they are imbalanced. Xrealm was always a good thing because it solved this problem.
The meta and people wanting PvP max advantage caused a larger influx of pvpers to go horde. It wasnt like this back in the day because people were not that aware of the differences. Now with videos effectively telling you what to roll and how to play, you are going to have a lopsided game.
All you need for proof is that I can click queue button and expect a game in less than 15 seconds
You expect a game in less than 45 minutes
The servers are matching up 40 horde vs 40 alliance at a time. Period. End of story it’s that simple. If you have a pool of 10000 queue and we have a pool of 3000, there will be 7000 of you waiting for our members to get out of their current game to requeue to then again leAve another 4000 horde waiting longer, a fresh 3000 out of a game trying to requeue, and 3000 of you head into a game after the first finished. All the while the alliance player never skipped a minute of action because as a pvp opponent it’s clear we are in demand
First of all, last night my queue was down to 21 minutes from over 30 minutes.
Secondly, try defending if you don’t want your games to end quickly. I haven’t had any problem with it except in the games where half the team refuses to defend. At the end of those games I just tell the team to play better next time and adapt their strategy.
These alliance players…look we’re not going to switch sides. At least most of us won’t. That doesn’t really resolve the issue either though. What they need to do is give more incentive to join other battlegrounds. Clearly we only have wsg right now but when arathi basin comes out it’s gonna be dead on arrival if something isn’t done about AV. Switching sides isn’t going to change that.
Use that queue time to go farm. Herb, mine, skin. What ever. If you choose to just sit in the city during your queue that’s on you. Plenty of other productive things you can be doings while you wait.
The problem with today’s gamer mentality is the “instant gratification” attitude. Players don’t want to put in the time and effort to acquire what they want. They just want it now.
The problem is it’s not 39 hours, it’s 39 hours split into ~78 thirty minute chunks, +/- 5 minutes.
So sure, if it was 2 hours, I could run some errands. Or if it was 8 hours I could sleep.
But it’s not. Whatever I’m doing needs to be done before queue pops. So if I want to do a 40 minute activity, I can’t while in queue. You’re tethered to your computer more or less.
I don’t fully disagree with you but I think a lot of people just want to pvp. While your idea of being productive is to go out and herb, mine, skin, etc. some people just want to pvp and have very little interest in doing anything else. Just kind of sucks being stuck in a 30 - 45 min que to be stuck against an alliance premade 40-50% of the time that ends the game in 7 mins or less. Sure we can defend and occasionally that actually works against premades but the majority of the time, with no real method of communicating aside from spamming random crap in chat, it’s a very quick loss.
