I just want to go on the record saying that the AV map severely favors horde for too many reasons to list. I ranked 5x mages to Grand Marshal strictly in the post-premade nerf of AV and it was miserable knowing the game was over if shgy ever got soft-capped before you had another gy south. Start turtling SPGY for hours if you want to break the scorched earth meta Alliance.

It’s not. It’s so funny that you say the AV map is imbalanced in favor of the horde. The common wisdom back in the day was that it was the opposite, because the alliance had the bridge and horde didn’t.

It’s obviously imbalanced but it favors the vast majority of the people playing Classic so it’s going to stay that way.
… your names are all awesome. Well done

I think if anything we’ve proven that people back in the day were idiots. Over 15 years weve dissected this version of the game to death and have come back with completely different knowledge

Randomize which faction gets north for a month in the live game not ptr, and see how it plays out. That would be the truely interesting test. But I think one camp would be devastated by the results. And the other would not let it go for all of time.

Let me just say… you aren’t wrong. This is the worst version of AV the game ever saw. Having said that, it is what it is. I would prefer they reconstructed an earlier version, or just gave us the Korrak’s revenge version… but I don’t see that happening.

There are places on the map that favor one side or the other.
I have to agree with this, it’s hard to come back from this. The bunker there has a single point choke point with no getting around it. Once the Horde have this it’s basically over.
The Bridge is pretty bad BUT it doesn’t help you win it just delays the inevitable
The Horde Flight master are easier to get back, the first two are very easy, operating Flightmasters are pretty demoralizing.
Overall, i don’t think it’s skewed that severely, that being said, it compounds with other issues to make it a terrible experience.
The Map favors the Horde offence and the Alliance defence. You can only win being on offence.

I have gotten 2 alliance and one horde toon to exalted and I don’t buy the map imbalance argument. Horde cares more and tries harder. Alliance players give up at the first setback, horde players push through setbacks and win. Maybe it’s a product of the queues, but if alliance had more heart, better players would queue and every weekend would be AV weekend.
You got my rogue my first AV win in classic.
It was the same game I got exalted.
Thanks!
Maybe it’s a product of having basic map awareness and understanding that a severely imbalanced map isn’t worth playing for any reason other than the rep rewards, which everybody understands are quicker to acquire if you only play for rep.

Alliance wins all the time on AV weekend. I’ve won many games on AV weekend as alliance and lost a few on horde (I’ve played horde less). There’s no explanation for why alliance is magically competitive on AV weekend other than heart. It’s the same map.

Yeah Im still waiting for those reasons from any Alliance player. people keep saying its unbalanced with a bias towards the Horde but yet to say how that is. so far it sounds like excuses cause you guys keep losing. as I posted in another thread, alliance just need to communicate better with their team.

This is not for you to buy; this is fact.
If you’ve gotten three toons to exalted and you cannot see it then there’s just something wrong with you.

The argument I don’t buy is the argument that map imbalances cause the horde win rate.

I’m sorry, are we to believe that blatant multiboxers in AV have knowledge that carried more weight that the normal players?

It’s been explained many, many times.
But you know this.
