I just completed Exalted with Stormpike as well as the required honor for rank 10 and here are my thoughts:
-Blizzard has no intention to balance PvP and doesn’t seem to care about it at all
-We do entirely too much damage for our HP pools
-Every class having a RNG ability to stun you is not fun in any way
-Bosses have too little hp and do entirely too much damage. Over 50% of games are Horde winning in less than 4 minutes after the gates open.
-Spirit Wolves are completely OP
-Hunters are currently tuned for whatever raids happen after Naxx and the fact that their damage is still not nerfed is equivalent to Blizzard asking us if we have phones.
Classic pvp will never be balanced, because they don’t care about it. Using retail as a metric which actually has competitive pvp, it’s treated as a mini game and minimal development is wasted on it.
shouldnt ever really be tbh. I am of the opinion that classic pvp has its charm because its imbalancing. People are asking for specific pvp modifiers on abilities but I am not a big fan of that. Nothing sucks worse than having to switch up ur spec because you want to do a different form of content and when you use X ability in raid and it does major damage then go do pvp and it hits for a tiny fraction of it doesn’t feel good. Then inorder to have actual balance you have to start homogenizing classes. One thing that I think is nice about classic is you can makeup for your weakness with itemization. There are trinkets galore that provide effects albeit on long cool downs which i think should be brought down to max 5 min. Your class doesn’t have a stun? Tidal charm. Need to remove a bleed? Luffa etc. etc. Class doesn’t have a root? the ring from the real vendor got you. Yes, I see some classes being ridiculous but most of those complaints come from people trying to 1v1. Bring people with you or expect to itemize with potions, trinkets, and gadgets to win those 1v1 encounters.
The gear rewards for rank 10 are terrible and should be adjusted to at least be MC adjacent.
Burst is pretty nuts, which is generally fine, but the lack of counterplay is pretty obnoxious
Hunters are really the only stand out class to me in terms of what is overtuned. A lonewolf full t1 + bow hunter hit me for 2800 with explosive and I think thats wild.
BRM pvp is basically dead and there is very little reason to pvp there, less if hunters are using the exploit.
AB and WSG are dead, their rewards are also lackluster given other updated gear.
PvP -IS- the classic endgame outside of raid logging, and it seems like the devs either don’t know how, or don’t care how to make it relevant.
thats true tbh but the “random stuns” are from hunter, sp and boomy which all 3 were in vanilla.
i think sod pvp is fine, though some stuff is broken or just extremely nuisance, its not rated nor suppose to be balanced thats how classic is and why everyone loves it.
and tbh, mmorpgs arent designed or suppose to be balanced, classes are suppose to complement eachother (the whole point of an mmorpg)
“balance” is for mobas and FPS’s. WoW already starts off imbalanced, gear(playtime essentially) and gold alrdy make the game super “unfair”.
imagine if you started off with 20k in valorant or 20kg in league of legends while your opponents started off with 0 or 5k only. thats WoW.
Gotta agree here. The rep rewards should of been updated like most of the dungeon gear. Most importantly give us back our legs for exalted wsg, that is literally the only incentive to farm to exalted wsg in this phase.
Best part about the AV grind is listening to the loudmouth randoms argue about DREK OR KEK vs. GALV & LTS before the gate opens every single time. Didn’t know this game had so many strategic geniuses. Bunch of Napoleon Bonapartes running around.
A big concern with sod beyond the damage output, is all the ability changes that change/break the meta.
I’m currently ranking my lock, and a warrior… (rogue and maybe hunter to come) But in previous phases I’ve played, mage, shadow, and rogue, ele, and enhance so far. The point is, I feel like I’ve got a good grasp on a number of specs and how they play.
Warrior was given death grip, and charge +intercept in combat that also removes any movement impatient effects. They where probably given this because of hunter traps and shaman aoe totem root… BUT, warriors now basically counter mages (the class that used to counter warrior)…
The irony too, is that despite melee getting absolutely shredded constantly by oppressive ranged damage, I’m still enjoying my melees far more than my lock right now for pvp. It’s just boring… Anyone I cast on gets globaled, unless there’s a hunter in range of me, then I can’t cast before I get globaled via their larger range and lack of pushback. Beyond that, there just isn’t anywhere near the room for skillful counterplay right now. Global, or be globaled as destro… Don’t get touched or die as affliction… Or derp heal through any melee as soul link. You can’t really cc, there isn’t time, and there’s too many dots/cc breaks going out. It genuinely feels like most of all of the nuance has been beaten from the class.
My warrior, on the other hand, feels very strong on a target (refined arcanite reaper HOO), and actually has some good fights (by sod standards) vs other classes (and even some spec variance since arms and glad-prot both work)… But it’s also blatantly less effective overall because melee are frankly just a liability in a ranged dominant meta, ESPECIALLY if the bg is AV.
You got unlucky and got hit with a crit. You guys act as if Hunters have 100% crit chance (we have nowhere near that) and you let the Hunter be stationary for long enough to let his Crit chance stacks max.
Better luck next time. The devs aren’t going to nerf a class that sometimes crits.
