I don’t know if people are aware of it or simply don’t care and want to requeue as soon as possible but I see tons of honor left on the table by people doing AV for the purpose of farming honor. Both sides.
For those who are unaware, if the time on the towers or bunkers is under two minutes after a game ends, you can wait at the scoreboard screen for them to burn and you get credit for it and thus more honor.
I just got out of a game where we killed van and had IWB, DBN and DBS all around half a minute and 95% of the people dipped with 600 more honor less than 40 seconds away. Do people not care or don’t know?
Missing the next game could add 10-20 minute or more to the queue. I think its a mix of people that don’t know or want to catch the next game with that wave.
If it’s one’s last game, no reason not to just let it chill and wait caps.
they do not; there are some other oddities of AV that most do not know; I attempted to share once in AV but someone was fully convinced I was promoting wives tales. Now days I just let them live in their delusions; and conduce the orchestra when I feel like winning.
Lately I have been allowing the alliance to play “worse” so that horde win more games so that horde keep Q’n meanwhile I help allies maximize their honor gains despite their loss.
This is all part of the grand plan; tho I have yet to come up with a way to get AB to pop more.
I thought the same thing too but sometimes you can get hung up in a ten minute queue (when it says 2-3 min) even if you immediately exit and requeue…and get dumped in a 40 min AV thats almost over.
Anecdotally though it does seem more prevalent when you opt to wait an extra minute and a half although there are exceptions to that too but largely I do agree.
I think thats the case in part because when I mention it people ask if thats still really a thing and some will say they never knew and yet they never stick around to actually find out.
Others will be like its only 200-400 honor, I cant wait 27 seconds for that. Seems like 400 honor in less than 30 seconds is a good deal if you’re tracking your HPH.
You dont have to tell me. I know AV inside and out and Im often baffled by how some teams or groups of players approach it. Or strategize and whatever else.
As a complete and total digression and side note, Id like to point out no one complains about the horde cave anymore like they did back after the BG patch. I find that to be funny and just wanted to share that.
I cant call it grinding but I do at least a handful of AVs almost nightly on the toon Im ranking and it seems that both factions have their ups and downs and maybe wins and losses almost level out over the course of the week or month. In plain english I dont think one faction is dominating the other in AV but its all anecdotal evidence on my part.
But yeah, I hear ya, alliance side I often get around 4k honor in a rather quick loss. I think the longer queues on the alliance end (still not bad tho) makes them want to get more out of each individual game, win or lose.
There’s no way for me to get the information but Im just curious if most everyone had timers and saw 2-3 bunkers/towers going down in 60 seconds or less would prompt them to wait for them.
If most players did wait I think any impact on queues would be marginal. That and I just hate seeing ez honor go to waste like that.
People stopped complaining about the horde cave when our zug zug got them the best hp/h and if that doesn’t tell you all you need to know about the AV environment, I’m happy to complain further lmao.
It’s not any kind of consolation but occasionally you get an onion/artichoke lovefest hour plus turtle with boss summons and the like. They seem more common in the lone AV that pops after 1-2AM in the morning.
I dont disagree but I have to question how common it was or are most current Era pvpers/rankers not play during the opening run? Or, as posited earlier, people simply don’t care one bit.
Had a game a little earlier on today where Vann died with less than 20 seconds on both DBN and DBS and 38 people were gone before the timer on the 13 second one expired.
I mean, if you’re worried about queue times or wanting to go back into AV with mostly the same group you just played with maybe I could understand if its a 105 second wait on a single tower or bunker but if its less than a minute on 2 or 3 of them it seems like it would be worth the wait.
That’s the big difference between Era players and “Classic” players like on SoD / Cata.
Era players play both factions and just enjoy the maps and game play for what it is; “Classic” players look for excuses for why they’re not winning or getting BiS honor per hour.
Something about Era that you’re likely well aware, Era players generally play both factions, so i think people see both sides of the coin and are more likely to understand the map and that its both balanced and imbalanced at the same time; being that each faction has to play it a little differently using a different strategy to maximize their gains.
The only legitimate complaints I can see in respect to PVP are that WSG wall hacking needs to go; I am not talking about the jumps but literal wall hacking where players can cut past the actual walls to get into areas were you cannot attack them, and player character models that cannot complete some of the jumps because their character models are not compatible with the fence. /cough male character models for Orc, UD, Human, Cow… RIP.
Yeah Im done with WSG for that (brazen exploits) and a couple of other reasons (premades, GY farms, clueless players etc).
I can’t remember seeing anything that said it was intentional or a bug for that matter. Theyre slow to fix bugs but since its been like this since the AV patched and never changed it may just be a thing thats permitted to happen.
Cant blame ya, tho one thing I love about AV is the fact we have the towers and bunkers to use; Best PvP in Era next to Black Rock Mountain.
I love the towers and bunkers because unlike most of gulch there is so much counterplay potential in the ability to LOS casters on the pala where in the open field you’re 100% at the mercy of any caster who’s not fully clueless.
WSG and AB would be better if they had more LOS and existing things like fences, wagons, stumps etc could all be used for LOS but instead they dont work making range stronger than they oughta be.
Unavailable somewhere someone will bring up arena and pillars and how much they hate it, but pillars and LOS are excellent for gaming, and the lack if it in WSG / AB is kinda lame.
I feel like when it comes to arena, its when the game had lots of insta casts, and better melee protection against casters, so they feel much more frustrating than LoS dancing in era. Plus in era, if a pally is being a little biiiiiiiiiiiiig boy, you can always call in a warrior to remind them who a real melee is.
Warriors are my second most favorite victims with rogues having the number 1 slot; nothing more enjoyable than 1 shotting rogues, well until they have a healer then I just let my warriors do their job when I give them freedom and heals; never leave home with out the Healing weapon and shield because the Pala’s most important job is helping the team; not zugging like a warrior. That there is where most paladins go wrong; they forget their primary task of using the class kit be that Freedom, Cleanse, Healing, Kings, Might, Wisdom, Sac, Protection, and auras.
Basically as you’re aware, just like a shaman; only better =)
Q’s are end of the week right now so “the worst” it gets on average @ 9mins.
The absolute bottom of the barrel I am told is 20 mins at 2AM server (pacific timezone NA) and from there it gets damn good unless Allies or Horde go all scorched earth and farm caves; then Q’s do get long because people get tilted over that, so I try not to do that.
When I am ranking characters I Q for WSG, AB, AV and just take whatever pops first to keep my sanity.
I stack a lot of healing/spell damage on my pala for the use of healing the zugs, but carry the big slappy just in case insolent rogues get up in my face; then I can put them down. Wizards tho, I run from them lol; if they’re not idiots and I don’t have any zugs to help me its GG well played if they’re not fully brain dead.
I mean I am an australian so my play time is almost always off-hours, also levelling a paladin is a 10 day affair of auto attacking and crying, but I do want to heal BG’s on them. So a priest on horde is a midway point
