Your general opinion on this change from blizzard?
Hasn’t affected me. What changed?
I don’t really care. It is nice we’ll get 2 new mounts from it. I don’t have many reasons to lvl new alts so it doesn’t really affect me since I have over 50 alts lol. No different than when they made it so you can change your talents as many times as you want, while not in a rested zone.
They are removing the need to buy riding skills, you will automatically learn them at the appropriate levels. At least that’s what I assume the OP is talking about.
On topic - I don’t really care, any server I rolled new alts on I usually sold a caged battle pet or something and would have the gold for riding anyway, but it’s nice that that hurdle is gone, especially for new players.
I don’t like it to be honest. I can always choose not to fly but I’ve liked playing through Chromie Time without flying so I can enjoy the world from the ground and perhaps earn flying by getting to a certain zone, or a certain level through my experience in the expansion.
You don’t auto learn mounts. You will be given riding training at the appropriate levels without having to buy it.
You can still choose to not fly. Just use a ground only mount.
I agree, this is great for new players. You don’t have to break up the flow of whatever it is you’re doing to go get initial riding, or improved riding at 20, and so on. And with what gold is like these days the cost is mostly inconsequential, except for new players. And we sure don’t need to do anything more to drive new players away…
they’re taking the challenge aspect out of the game. If mount is auto learn now I want a refund for every time ive bought riding on every toon only fair right? lol
When something goes on sale 5 years after you bought it, you don’t get the difference back. So no.
I have decided this for myself during Chromie Time but every once and a while, I’ll go on a flying mount to get over a ledge or cliff. Being completely unable to avoid these obstacles and explore a funner solution instead of being tempted to simply fly over is my preferred way of leveling.
I like it. There are better things to save my gold on instead of re-unlocking the ability to use my plethora of mounts on an alt. Plus they’re giving us two new mounts (albeit just recolors).
I was excited for a moment, but checked the 10.1.5 PTR and it looks like I’m excluded. Well, I’ll always have my riding turtle.
I mainly like the aspect of having fast flying for free. Although it’s not like 5000 gold was too much, but as a person with only 500k gold under my belt it was still a bit much for the benefit.
On the other hand, I suppose it ruins the rpg aspect a bit, it was the last remnant of the the excitement of going to a trainer to learn a new significant spell, it broke the tedium of leveling a bit, and created milestones.
But overall, not too rustrated that it was removed.
I do not care in the slightest
Reserving my spot for commentary later.
I like it. Great change!
Abilities are auto-learned so it’ll smooth out the leveling experience.
Good change. Felt awkward going back to a city just to grab the next stage of riding when leveling is as quick as it is.
And that’s fine, but this still makes that choice 100% yours to use flying or not, so it doesn’t affect you at all, other than saving you some gold from learning slow and fast ground speed.
Smooths out the leveling experience I guess, but I feel like it takes away from the journey a little bit. The worst thing about the riding skills was the gold cost (and even that’s arguable); don’t really know why they couldn’t have just axed that instead.
I don’t know. I’m someone who enjoys QoL, but only if it eases some jank from an experience. Too much QoL can severely take away from the fun and enjoyment of an RPG experience, imo, and I fear WoW going down that path too hard when it comes to stuff like this.
Plus, like. I’d like to have the option to choose whether to take riding speed boosts, or flying. I usually always take them, sure, but taking options away from people’s RPG experience is never something I support or like, tbh.
