Starting a topic on this just because it’s so annoying, and I’m in the mood to rant about it.
Why Oh Why does this forum have to auto-edit out quotes, even after I have made it a point to either click on the quote icon, or gone so far as to highlight/quote something. Seems to me that taking steps to include a quote might just be a hint to the forum bot that someone actually wants the quote included. And sometimes I can re-edit to put it back in and it will auto-edit it back out again. lol. So annoying.
Some days, (like today, lol) it becomes annoying enough to inspire a rant about it. Not that I think it will influence the powers-that-be to do anything about it.
Maybe someone here knows the logic, if any, of this being a “feature” of the forums?
Not sure I know what you mean by “bulk quoted.” If you mean the quoted part actually is the whole post, that still doesn’t make much sense to edit it out unless it’s a very long one (and yet those are left in usually). I’ve seen many posts where it gets confusing what they’re responding to, even with the little arrows and such, and I’ve seen many misunderstandings because of this.
It took me 30 seconds to understand the system and figure out ways to work around it. For example I just quoted your whole post, except for the final “?”
The amount of times where it was edited away and people didn’t realize I was replying directly to the post above and took me out of context is way more annoying than the quoted text that can be at least minimized with a drop down to see all of it by default, than completely edited away.
It doesn’t even show that you replied to the person in the top right corner. It is a terrible forum “feature”
