A number of times where I am vanishing and immediately trying to garrote my target, instead of garroting, it will auto attack the target instead. This seems to happen even when not vanished, rather even just stealthed and trying to garrote. It does not happen every time, and seems to happen randomly. I do not have a start-attack macro attached to garrote, and it does not happen with other openers such as cheap shot.
Has anyone else experienced this and/or knows why it is happening?
No miss as far as I can tell, and what led me to ultimately make this post was how clear as day it happened in a bg just now. I was regularly stealthed and a player who was at 1% hp was not moving, I walked behind him and just hit my garrote key and it auto-attacked out of stealth and killed him, no sound of the ability being used or animation or debuff onto the target. Also, if I am correct, garrote cannot miss if you are hit capped for pvp (5% which I have) when used on targets without increased miss chance. I garrote druids most often and even if it was the miss causing this, it wouldn’t be possible against druids.
Also in regards to that guys post, I don’t even know what subterfuge is.
Because Blizzard code is crap.
Because Blizzard “Batching” is not actually 10m like they say it is, its calculated 100 times a second on the server side breaking things up into batches but it looks like the client is updated 4 times a second. (not a joke)
To compensate for that, you basically need to do the following because their code and system is trash:
(#) show tooltip garrote
/stopattack
/cast garrote
(Remove the brackets from the #)
I use stop attack on gouge / sap / blind also because blizz code is garbo. This will allow you to use CC / specials without auto swings 99% of the time, and a drastic improvement over the ~70% effective rate of the base coded abilities.
I will give this a try thanks, didn’t think it would matter since if you garrote first you should not possibly be able to auto attack first, using common sense of course.
I’ve noticed this with garrote as well. One thing I will say is it happens more when you are trying to garrote from the side/front…but I can literally Ravage at the same angles on my druid and I usually never have a problem. IDK what it is.
I use stop attacks for gouge/blind/sap like Khlause mentioned—guess I’ll have to take his advice on tying it in with garrote too. Thanks bud.
