Authenticator

What in Jesus name is going on with the Authenticator? I am getting kicked and tossed and passed around between Authenticator and the new Battlenet app, I feel dirty.

Please send help.

Keeping things in a state of flux keeps your team’s budget intact. Why do you think classes are constantly being rewritten? When everything is fine, people start to look redundant.

Once you configure the new bnet app authenticator, you can remove the old authenticator afaik.

At first I was getting notifications for both, but the old one was redundant.

Yea you have to delete the old app once you have b.net set up.

Yeah, I had this issue. I just deleted/reinstalled all my stuff.

I kept getting errors frequently

It’s a buggy mess. The authenticator will send you to the b-net app which tells you to authenticate using the authenticator app.

I’m surprised either actually work at all at this point.

This is why I’ve put the authenticator on ignore for now. LOL I just keep using it, and it keeps working… and I guess it will be a problem for future me at some point. :woman_shrugging:

Lucky you that it still works! I had to toss mine out when the battery died, or maybe the thing just died altogether, I can’t remember now. :frowning:

You’re going to have issues when it dies.

The “They only tear up the streets to justify their budget” argument.

Work in government or a large corporation and you see it all the time.

It was too late for me to remember I had authenticator on both the iPad and iPhone, before I made a mess of things on the iPhone grrrr I should have gotten the code from the other device instead of doing a reset/resync or whatever fancy step(s) non-IT old lady person like did following the complicated “help” articles online.

I just went through it. I couldn’t see my friends and was advised to reset my password. Some how the authenticator got involved in my lack of tech skills. I spent like 30 minutes going back and forth between bnet and the authenticator trying to import passwords. Some how, it started to work.

Short version, I clicked buttons and entered dumb codes until it worked.

I still have mine from WotLK era.
Long since swapped it for the phone app, but it does still work. Probably not for much longer though, lol.

The change over from the authenticator to the new bnet app went pretty well for me.
I followed the instructions to change over, then deleted the old authenticator app from my phone(current android).

So far, I’ve not had any problems crosses fingers

If I ever do, I don’t have the old authenticator app anymore. So I’m assuming I’ll need the recover code they gave me or I get to email tag with support.

I saved the restore code and key (there was an option to “save”) before I did anything but I kept getting an error message, which was the frustrating part in the process.

“add” and “restore” is also unclear. When you’re adding, is it a new one and you start fresh? or do you just keep re-entering the old credentials.

it’s like 50% of the instructions when there are no live customer service reps to help you and in between you have to wait for your ticket to be responded to, in the meantime your game is locked, you can’t modify anything in-game until you link an authenticator (I have a screenshot I can’t even lower a key on an alt)

wait, did you install the new bnet app, then immediately try to do an account recovery?

The recovery code is for when you’ve lost control over the phone or the phone number the bnet app was installed on so you can, well, recover your account credentials in order to gain access to your account. Hopefully you will never need it.

Demons. It’s totally demons doing this. Totally.

Or cats. Could be cats too.
