Authenticator restoration

Putting an authenticator on my wifes phone. We’ve got the old serial number and restore codes from her old phone. However, the new battlenet app does not allow me to plug that information in. Is there a way we can restore the authenticator on the new phone without first removing it from her account?

I believe you have to log in to the bnet app first, if you can.

Can’t without the authenticator. We took a screen shot of the codes like suggested and saved it off the old phone.

I’m stuck in a loop of, can’t log in without an authenticator and can’t get authenticator without logging in.

The old authenticator app allowed you to restore your authenticator with those codes, I checked on my authenticator and they still give you the codes, it’s just the new app they have neglected to add the function in to use them.

If you have the old phone, that would help. Or even if the number were the same, you could get the SMS code to help remove it.

If not, you will need billing to remove the authenticator, and then you can apply the new one.

Never added sms protection. I’ve tried to remove the authenticator and I get met with an error “failed due to to many attempts” even though it was my first attempt…Apparently this is an issue that a lot of people are having.

The whole point of holding onto those restore codes was to avoid this exact situation. Somehow a billion dollar tech company that essentially forces you to use their authenticator, forgot to add the restore function to their new app that they made us switch to.

Same situation here. Too many login attempts and cant remove the old token authenticator. I put in a ticket but what I have read is that you may never get any answers to the tickets. We are returning to the game after many a years away. I guess they have let the company go down the toilet. We are heading over to play baldors gate instead now. Shame. Would have loved to play again.

They will answer your ticket, and may request some information to verify ownership of the account. Just make sure to send it back by ticket, not by email, especially if you could not log into the support system to file the ticket.

If you have a ticket number, I would recommend asking in the CS forum for follow up. I would avoid disparaging comments, mods do not take kindly to that. They can’t push the ticket faster, and may not be online right now, but they can at least inform you the ticket is in queue.

Not disparaging at all. Just frustration. These issues look like they have existed since the new app launch. There is a reason they have the restore authenticator codes in there, the developers have just neglected to incorporate the abilty to use them in the new app. That is a massive overlook. I’m trying to either figure out a way to circumvent it, or be able to use it.

I’m hoping a dev or someone who knows a dev can atleast acknowledge the issue and say they are working on a fix.
