Authenticator question

I have both the authenticator app and the battle.net app on my phone now. But I’m confused… if the authenticator app is going away, then why do I get prompted to go approve a code in it when I launch the battle.net app? At what point is it safe to delete the authenticator?

It is going away, not gone. And when you use the authenticator app you should be getting an annoying message telling you it will soon stop working and you will need to use the .bnet app in the near future. If you switch over now, then it will no longer prompt your authenticator app any longer and you can remove it.

I would move this thread to Customer Support and ask them. They’re a wealth of knowledge on this subject and have helped many.

When I launch battle.net, the first thing I see is a screen saying the authenticator now lives within the battle.net app. So I think, “great, then I guess that means I don’t need the authenticator app on my phone anymore”. So I tap the login button, and guess what, it tells me to check authenticator for a code to approve. Then after I approve it, I swap back to the battle.net app, and it just sits there still waiting for the approval. Me tapping approve in the authenticator did nothing, apparently.

On a side note, when you say “switch over”, what exactly does that mean in detail?

When I migrated mine from the authenticator app I followed the prompt, it opened the .bnet app and then it sent a prompt to the authenticator app to confirm I was trying to link my .nbet app to the account. Once I confirmed it, the .bnet app took over all prompts from then on.

I will confirm this is an authentic question.
