Augmentation TANK?

There’s one really good, simple way to turn Aug from a “support” snicker DPS class into a genuine support tank class.

Change Ebon Might (slightly): it does what it does right now. Just ADD that a % of threat done by everyone with EM on goes to you.

Almost everything else can stay the same, with maybe some minor tweaks here and there to more aptly fit being a tank.

But, think about it. They’d be a CASTER tank with high mobility that’s able to buff the party/raid.

Not every new class needs a tank or melee DPS, chill out with that.

lol…fair point, fair point. BUT, mail and cloth are the only armor class left that DOESN’T have a tank spec. And it would be nice to have one so you could properly armor stack…or just play what you want.

It would be over powered greatly.

Think of all the abuse Miss direct and Tricks of the trade has enabled. SL dungeoen where they Miss direct across the entire dungeon comes to mind.

Giving a tank racials that give knock back amd knock up, woth an aoe stun, aoe mass root, aoe de-enrage, aoe cc increase would mean they could kite groups of mobs forever. Giving that constant miss directs means the tank would never have to stop moving/ pulling as any dps behind them would just add to thoer threate

Now hover alone would be broken on tanks, how would thst stack up to bosses? Many bosses have instant kill mechanocs to stop out ranging abilities, would this have to be taken out? If so, imagine a tank able to do full rotation while moving. They could outrange every tank buster and never be in trouble.

They would instantly become the best M+ dungeon tank overnight and nothing could conpare to them.

Was there a downside to what you’re saying? Because all I read was Aug DEFINITELY needs to be a tank lol…

I’d rather Shaman tank first.

Let’s see here…

Okay so if you cut Ebon Might from healers, then did the threat thing I think that works. Aug giving primary stat to healers needs to go away in every scenario.

Let Aug use shields for the added armor.

Make Blistering Scales a self-cast only.

You would need to give them Pyre maybe instead of azure strike. Pyre wouldn’t be able to cost essence.

Mastery now gives the Aug Versatility instead of other players.

Finally gives a lust tank and mail wearing tank.

What am I missing? They should either make it a tank or they have to gut the utility and have it do normal damage. I think tank is the best path forward.

No thanks.

I would rather see shamans get a 4th spec centered around the earth element and tank. They literally have all the fundamental elements minus an actual taunt button (critical for a tank).

I’d rather see warriors get a 4th spec and bring back gladiator as a melee/tank support spec and aug tweaked to be a healer/caster DPS support spec.

Under no circumstances do I want to see aug turned INTO a tanking spec. I don’t even want evokers to GET a tank spec. The game absolutely needs WAY more caster DPS and healers and even more absolutely needs FAR less tanks and melee DPS players.

And no I do not care if YOU have issues finding pug tanks for your riff raff LFR/G content. In real content, tanks and melee DPS are a downright glut and overabundance.

before i would EVER play an evoker, and i mean EVER, i would require blizzard to create a better model for dracthyr…

something like the hulk bear but for dragons.

i cant play an evoker with the way they look now.

I used to offtank on my Enhancement Shaman before AQ was released… Those were some very fun days…

Then their ability to tank essentially got removed…

Pretty sure the only way people will be happy is the complete and total removal of Augmentation. Probably Evoker as well. Because people are funny like that.

Add Tinkers with mail armor and a mecha-tank spec.

Cloth never needs a tank because it’s cloth.

Boom - there ya go.

Don’t need more tanks. The support spec is fina as is.

How bout this, we get a 4th spec for evokers for tanking business. Essentially go the druid route perhaps.

No, nope and no chance

I don’t see how casted, channeled, and empowered spells that take a couple seconds would work for a tank spec.

I don’t know about that. :dracthyr_lulmao:

They’d need a lot more armor and mitigation, but yeah, I mean, anything could be made a tank with that. The question is, would the vast majority of Evoker players, specifically Augmentation players, enjoy this change?

You know whats funny?. The legacies trailer and the scaleborn novel (spoilers ahead) seem to suggest that augmentation were supposed to atleast be frontline polearms users. Because Emberthal’s weyrn, and we know she is an augmentation evoker, all used polearms and were strong enough (probably from augmenting themselves) to bring Razageth down by using their spears to strike at the gaps between her scales and Emberthal was about to execute her had she not destroyed Oathbinder at that precise moment
