It is kind of interesting that before avoker came out people were perfectly fine with receiving buffs from other players that increased their dps on the meters (lust, wf totem, battle shout, raid buffs etc)
They would flex on their amazing dps even though a portion of it was provided by these support buffs, but now a “support class” is here, the added dps doesn’t feel like it’s theirs.
I can see why they feel that way, I don’t agree though.
I love taking warlocks in the mythic plus, you bring Brez, health stones and gateway, Warlocks are actually a very desirable class to have in mythic. The only reason I wouldn’t take a lock is if I already have brez in the group and we need a lust still.
They hit 2 million dps because it was a “giga lust pull”.
The augs damage contribution isn’t outrageous in keys, those dps would have been pumping on that pull with a third full dps anyways. If dying wasn’t a threat a third dps would have resulted in the same pull.
It’s the fact that augs make people unkillable for those “giga lust pulls” chronoward needs massive nerfs.
Looks like the hit was almost completely absorbed, log gave unabsorbed ebon might damage based on the full damage of the ability, but also assumed it had the same ratio of unabsorbed/absorbed, so added a massive amount of absorbed damage to ebon might.
Still actually doesn’t show as 160M in log, only 87M, so I dunno if there’s some other weird log shenanigans in addition to it.
This is how it’s gonna be from here on out. The top meta groups will all have an augment + whatever classes has the biggest cooldown window DPS. Good luck getting into a pug if you’re not one of those classes.
I do think in the longterm they should just make dungeons 6 person content (or keep 5 but I think 6 is the superior option) and make support specs it’s own role. Add some more support specs and we’re gucci.
it would require more support specs to do that but in the immediate short term they either need to A. shore up other dps specs utility or B. nerf theirs.
M+, due to being a very small small scale activity, will always skew towards specs with utility over flat output. Aug just offers so much utility that even a mediocre player is acceptable.
This has already beed the case for healers and tanks, if you really think about it. Get into groups with 1-200 lower io score and maybe 5-15 ilvl lower than what people are looking for compared with dps.
Yes, it sucks that dps spots just got a bit more competitive…. But once the dust settles I think most players will realize that 3 dps is very comparable to 2 dps plus an augvoker…. Especially if one of those dps is a carry/alt.
