Augmentation Evoker, a massive mistake

I just saw that a mage buffed by Augmentation Evoker dealt insanely high dps. And that’s after mages lost rune of power, which is burst spell.
This might lead to other classes losing their burst as well, because balancing Augmentation Evoker will be an utter mess unless every class is doing about same damage at all times with no/little burst.

So in essence, they might make other classes less fun for sake of balancing this new addition to not be utterly broken with burst specs. No paladin wings (or nerfed), no rune of power, combustion nerf, etc.

Why the nerfs? Because Augmentation Evoker depends on coordination and other people’s dps. This’ll create large ceiling where premade great players will be stomping everything and if blizzard wants to balance for them, everyone beneath will get screwed over by difficulty increase based around Augmentation Evoker’s played at their best.

wat. Rune of Power was removed as part of this patch already.

Yeah, you heard of PTR?

Is there a 10.1.0 PTR up somewhere that they’re adding Rune of Power back for mages and we’re all going back in time?

The spell was removed at the same time Aug evoker was added, and its removal was announced before Aug evoker was. Talk about real things, please. If it happens to be available on the 10.1.7 PTR then it’s likely an oversight.

See this is what happens now that Murozond is around…

Pretty sure this was part of the mage rework, not a fault of evokers on the PTR.

They removed rune of power because mages complained for 10 years about it

Okay, so they removed rune of power, and still some mage managed to hit 2 million dps burst with augmentation evoker 2 days ago, you can check it on youtube.

Point stands, burst specs will get nerfed because of augmentation evoker.

Every change past, present and future will be blamed on Augies. This is now the meta.

In Raid, Mythic+, and PvP, having a player commit to a small space for 12 seconds is a large ask and one that just doesn’t feel fun to play around, as frequent as Rune of Power is. By removing Rune of Power we’re able to shift more of the Mage’s damage into their abilities baseline while also leaving us room to further amplify their big cooldowns (Arcane Surge, Combustion, and Icy Veins) if necessary. While we expect it to be a large adjustment at first, we’re confident that this will be an overall boon for Mages in the future.

Removed at same time as augmentation evoker is added, they’re keeping burst in mind. And still, a mage pulled 2 mil dps burst.

Augmentation will make balancing a mess.

low effort on this one

Your character’s name made me laugh more than this thread did.

Laugh while you can, either you get nerfed to ground, or other classes get reworked and everyone’s mad at your class/spec.

Lose/lose scenario.

Probably. But what else is new – devs have zero clue how to properly balance anything.
Augmentation won’t get touched for weeks, so other classes should just expect devs to deal heavy handed “tuning passes” in the short term.

I take it you haven’t seen the reactions to the incoming Mage nerfs.

That has more to do with fire AOE spells having no target cap…

The only thing im laughing about is you think mages lost rop because of aug.

Or they just nerf how much Aug does. They don’t remove bladestorm because windfury totem. Classes don’t lose their big cds and on use trinks because lust burn phase, they design encounters expecting it.
