Augment still failing

The new buffs are nice… Still are shunned in groups, they buffs are not enough. the cd’s take too long, not enough effect to be considered valuable in a group. Reduce the c’d and increase the benefits and dmg output. Very hard to solo anything to get geared up. Have to solo because no one wants them in a group. What they offer is not enough to be considered valuable by other players. Or as others have stated make them a tank class.

Currently Aug is that last kid sitting on the bleachers after the kid with asthma was chosen.

At first Augmentation was an interesting idea, not something I would personally be interested in but for others that liked it I was happy for them. However then they became dominate to the point where if you weren’t playing it in everyone else’s mind you were trolling… to the point where even healers got weird looks. That’s the problem that I have with the spec, people like doing big numbers so anything that helps them do it will ALWAYS be chosen if it is viable and it scares me that it might return to that. It also leaves a bad taste in my mouth that they are basically parasites that relies on others to be valuable (not saying there isn’t skill involved in that).

I’m getting Demonology 6.2 vibes from this spec. I think an overhaul in 12.0 is inevitable.

Been playing aug as my main for a little while now, and they’re mostly fine. There’s specs that currently sit below them on the tier list, and though it can still be hard to find parties, I’m timing 10 keys and sitting at item level 660.

It’s really about having confidence, playing well, and finding a good guild to play with. Aug can still do great things, it’s just not the insanely busted spec it was on release. I’d like a bit more focus on the actual buffing effects, but it’s mostly fine as is.

I had a few questions. Thought id ask here.

  1. Does Aug suffer from Evokers limited range?
  2. Can you quest with Augmentation? Or is that painful?
  3. Is this a group-only spec?
  1. Not as bad but still there and can be annoying at times
  2. You can but it’s like leveling as a healer… without the survivability
  3. Personally I would say yes

I am pretty sure aug suffers much more than dev does with range, I can’t say for certain about pres evoker because I have never played it.

Aug not only has the range issues, it also needs to be in range of the boss, and the group members it wants to buff. We can take a talent that increases the range of our helping abilites by 5 yards, but it hardly helps with the issue. If you have a bunch of ranged targets to buff that are on opposite sides of the boss arena, get ready to waste all your hovers just to keep buffing. Worst M+ dungeon for aug reach atm is The Rookery, good luck ever buffing anyone in the last boss fight.

Mainly thinking Pres yeah, trying to keep 4 or more nutcases who dash off in all different directions with what amounts to melee range is… frustrating.

What? Like, bro, that logic makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. “They are basically parasites”? In what way? They assist the DPS in doing more DPS, much the same way the healer assists you in not dying, or the tank assists you in not getting your cheeks clapped by whatever boss. It’d be like a healer calling you a parasite because Hunters have virtually no self-healing. It’s like the tank calling you a parasite because Hunters aren’t designed to get smacked in the mouth by the boss. It’s nonsense at it’s finest.

Maybe try the third thought rule. Think about something three times, and if at any point during that thought process it sounds stupid to you even in the slightest…don’t share it with the class. Think some more, refine the idea, then apply the third thought rule again. Speak when it makes sense, homie. :man_facepalming:

The healer and tank comparison doesn’t really work, their roles are rather self contained. If they fail at their job then you notice, the group breaks down more often then not and does not progress. Augmentation as a support by design is tied to the other DPS so naturally if the DPS do not perform well it drags Augmentation down as well while on the other hand if Augmentation doesn’t perform well it does not suddenly make them bad DPS. Now was parasite perhaps a poor choice of word? Maybe but my point still stands. Now lining up your abilities with cooldowns and other optimizations will always separate a good Augment from a bad one but at the end of the day there is only so far you can take it before you are either valuable to a group or people in the group aren’t at a level where you are worth taking, unless you buff Augmentation so they are valuable regardless of group performance and then they will once again be meta and in the communities eyes “required”.

It can and has been argued over the years that DPS don’t matter at all, only the tank and healer do. Which is usually the case, provided the boss doesn’t have an enrage mechanic. I don’t feel that’s the case. All roles have a purpose. Sure, if you’re lacking a tank or a healer it’s likely an instant loss. Thing is nobody wants to take two hours to get through a dungeon, which is what your DPS is for. Support is to your party’s damage as Tank is to your party’s survivability or Healer is to your party’s health totals. It’s a clearly defined concept, and I need this point to be made so that you understand what follows:

Aug’s issue isn’t that they’re parasitic. Aug’s issue is as the only support spec, they had all of the support. Which is to say their presence (when both other DPS were good) resulted in MORE DPS output than either of the other two DPS individually, while also adding value to the tank with 30% of their own armor as a buff, and healer in enhanced Versatility. They literally brought everything, it’s why you were considered trolling at a point in Dragonflight to be playing Evoker and not be rolling Aug. Your continued insistence that the class that was OP for doing everything is parasitic somehow screams that you simply don’t understand what you’re talking about, and should probably stop talking about it until you figure out what the fact is. I’m telling you this as somebody who mained it through that very expansion. I’m saying it was OP not because it was parasitic at all, but because it was too symbiotic. It was symbiotic with everything, understand?

Beyond all of this, it’s already been cratered in support and has been buffed to be actually pretty reasonable as a DPS. It’s not bottom of the barrel now, surprisingly! So all of this is moot anyway. Jussayin’. :dracthyr_shrug:

Bro I started mythic+ last week and hit 2k already. Still climbing. I don’t really wait on groups at all, never takes more than 5 min to get invited to something
