Audio output list is bugged, output swapping wonky

Audio output selections are broken. This started happening when 10.0 was released and happens on both classic and retail WoW. When I load into the game it’s always on system default. I like to swap between Speakers and Headphones when I play. Depends on if I’m in a voice chat or not. So being able to swap is needed. Currently swapping is a hassle. When I try to swap from headphones to speakers or vice versa. It does not work as it should. I click headphones or speakers and nothing changes. The sliders don’t change, nothing changes but the name of the output. Output doesn’t change either. If I wanted to change the volume of each output, I can’t because it won’t lock onto an output.

I submitted a ticket on this and went through a variety of checks involving uninstalling addons, uninstalling the game, reinstalling, excluding WoW from antivirus and backup, deleting temp files, resetting all cvars, desyncing and resyncing config and settings, and finally using a script sent to me by one of the tech’s. That script was a restart sound system script, which still isn’t working.

After going through these steps with the devs and techs (thank you all by the way) the physical auditory output does swap now and acts as how it was saved when I changed the sliders (i.e. the system has music on when I did a fresh install, I lowered the music to about 10% and it stays there when I swap). However the sliders do not swap and the dropdown will initially say System Default when I click on Speakers/Headphones to swap, but it will swap to Speakers/Headphones and output audio through Speakers/Headphones. I’ll do a step by step with pictures of what is going on.

Preface: My system default on my PC is Speakers. I did all the testing on Dragonflight, however the issue is also in WotLK classic as well.

  1. After a fresh reinstall with no Addons at all.

2. I adjusted the speaker volume to how I like it.

Again, I have tried everything the GMs and Tech’s have said for me to try and nothing worked. If a dev would like the Ticket ID for all the steps tried, or for me to elaborate on steps tried, just let me know and I’ll provide all I can to help get this fixed.
