This last week, I have been clearing the stacks of Darkmoon Daggermaw from my banks by posting them on the auction house. Yesterday, when I was price checking to see what I should list them for, the listings, when sorted for price, looked odd.
It took me a bit, but eventually, I figured out that the auction house was sorting the list by unit price and not by the price of the stack itself, so instead of seeing a crap ton of singles, I was seeing the lowest unit prices first.
The stacks I had listed just a day or two before had sorted the way price sorting has worked since vanilla, so I am wondering when this changed.
My curiosity aside, I will say that I like this change. It makes it much easier to decide what price to sell my stacking goods at, and helps me find the best deals if I am the one buying.
There is a sort on the main interface screen that allows you to switch between unit and stack prices.

Are you using an add on? My AH interface does not give me an option to switch between stack and unit price.
While I am using an addon, that is a standard feature that was added in 7.1. My Addon (Auctionator) doesn’t touch that screen. It has its own buy and sell tabs.
Ok, so why is it that the other day, when I used the “sort by price” option, it sorted by the price of the entire stack (as if the stack were a single unit), which is how it has worked since vanilla, but now when I click that same button, it sorts by the price for the individual units in the stack, regardless of stack size?
I don’t know why it isn’t working for you. Maybe there is a stray addon that you forgot about or you need to clear out your interface and wtf folders and rebuild the UI.
I have never used any auction house add ons. My auction house UI is the default UI. There is no way to change the “sort by price” from “unit price” to “stack price” in the default UI. Even that screen shot you shared does not show any such option. It only shows the same options I see in my own UI.
So, if my personal observation is wrong and this is not a new thing, then, prior to the other day, either everyone on all of the servers where I have posted my auctions somehow, magically, decided to all list their auctions for the exact same unit price (regardless of stack size) or they all decided to gradually increase the price per unit as they increased their stack sizes.
Edit: My personal thought is that there was a bug so that it wasn’t working properly and they finally got around to fixing it.
