Anyone else find it annoying that when you -Buyout- an item on the auction house it goes to your mailbox? It feels really “classic WoW” for lack of a better way to put it. Really clunky. If you were at an auction house, you’d buy the item and get it right then and there most of the time. I understand that bidding needs to use the mailbox function of course, but purchasing an item outright feels like it doesn’t need to be mailed to me.
Edit: on further discussion, a good point was made that it could clog up your inventory when buying in bulk, so I wanted to add that there would have to be a setting on the auction house menu in game to prefer “direct” or “mailbox” delivery.
Edit 2: Yes, I already have the dinosaur with the mailbox and auction house on it.

This is how the AH has always worked. Buy something, it goes to your mailbox. Who buys stuff and then never checks their mailbox? This seems like a you/lazy issue.

Another reply to add: probably the first time since the game’s inception I have seen this demand. Which is wild given 20+ years.
Direct to mailbox seems like a scammers paradise.

I haven’t found it particularly burdensome, no.

also its just right there.
Old wow…you walk a bit. Org AH to the org bank. the bank had/has (for era’s) the mailbox.

What do you mean “never checks their mailbox”? Can you elaborate on that?
I would love to. Checking your mail after buying from the AH has always been a thing…otherwise you never get the item. And waste your money. I would hate to be the person who has made dozens or even hundreds of purchases, over the years, and not checked my mail to collect said item(s). And then made a post about my own ignorance about how the mail system works…

I find it interesting that you are telling me I don’t understand how the mail system works in a game I’ve play since 2006.
Another reply to point out your “half quote” of “who never checks their mailbox”?? When I said who buys stuff (from the AH) and doesn’t check their mail? Don’t be obtuse about this conversation
Yeah, I mean. I don’t have the energy to engage with people on the internet that are this worked up over something so utterly simple as a quality-of-life improvement request. You have a very nice night.
Lol. You made the topic, bud. You’re the one worked up over it. Don’t be mad cause I called you lazy.
Turn slightly left one step as you exit the auction house.

This is called simple “discourse”. On a forum. If you don’t want to have a discussion, don’t post.
Lol. When someone makes a public forum post, then says,
Classic

you make an interesting point…then again, ive played since “06 as well” before the AH, I know very well how the mail system used to work as well. And how it still works now. What’s your point?
No, seriously, I’m curious as to what your point is…? You know the MAIL SYSTEM so well, in terms of the AH, before the AH and after the AH…so what are you 2 cents?
The bad scenario I’d see is the legit wait for it auctions. that auction is won 2 hours later.
and they don’t see it hit since I will have them in raid. and being real nice, its a loot storm.
they may not see the auction win drop in now mixed in with whatever raid gave them.
and rant on it to us, CS, reddit lol.
If it comes in mail, it’s a specific action to get the item…checks and balance there. player x knows and actively accepts the item.
Bidding would remain the same if that’s what you’re referring to here (“wait for it auctions”). Buyouts would be changed to instantly go into your bag in my perfect world. Seems most people don’t care since it’s always been this way, and that’s fine, just a random quality of life I’d personally like to see. I never use the bidding function ever.
