Trying to upgrade my daggers on my rogue, a level 70, and go to the settings and set 65-70 as my parameters, and buy them out since a level 70 is what is required for them, only to find out - once I get them - that a level 80 is what is now needed. WTH? This has happened to me three times. Is this happening to anyone else?
I’ve had some guildies with the same issue in the past few days. Not sure what’s up with that. I only saw 1 bug report that may or may not be from the same thing. Any work arounds?
Thanks, Lastarria. I meant to mention I had checked the “usable only” filter in addition to setting the other parameters. Guess I can sell them at a loss or save them until my rogue levels up. Ja, that’s a major problem and needs attention.
Imagine searching “Gaming Monitor” on Amazon while having the price set to <$400 and just buying whatever the first thing is without even looking at the details.
That’s what every single person is doing when they complain about this particular AH Quirk.
The tooltip of the actual item you are buying says the correct level & stats.
It’s just the consolidated listing that isn’t filtering properly.
So yes, it’s a problem. Blizzard needs to fix it. But Christ Almighty read what you are buying before you Check Out.
It’s been broken like this for years and years, many expacs. It seems to rely on some potential window of the lower bounds of what drops can scale to and for some reason thus always shows them as appropriate for the last expac’s max level. No idea why but it was an issue last expac and the one before.
File a bug report or make a post on the bug forum as that’s where Blizzard will see it but I’m guessing this one is low priority given how long it has existed. Perhaps complicated to fix and requiring touching too many things or overhauling a system.
When I worked in retail (many years ago), that was the attitude, Erolyssa, only worse. Things would get to the point where the manager would just “put a band-aid on it” and hope that either it would go away or someone else would fix it.
Problem with that was neither of those things ever happened.
As we are doing here, we developed a work-around and depended on that to get us by.
Meanwhile, back at the dike…another problem would develop, another “temporary fix” and pretty soon… well you know what happened, right?
I’m just glad I have friends like you who will at least discuss it and help old farts like yours truly figure it out. I really do appreciate that.
To the OP… Of all the things messed up in WOW I agree AH is the most glaring messed up code in the entire game and I am sure they are not fixing it all because programmers have things to do way in advanced sometimes even years in advanced but sadly even I do not know the ETA when this will be fixed. Also May never be fixed if they are using this type of error to keep out private addons that nobody knows about so bad addons stay broken… but that is just my theory
Because of level scaling and item can have multiple different levels and ilvl for the same item name. Just got to be more careful looking at the listings and looking at not just the cheapest dagger in the listing for the proper level restriction.
