Auction House Issues

There are a lot of people who are held up on faction changes or realm transfers because of this… Since people are wanting to get in to play with friends, or new guilds, for 8.3 it would be helpful if there was some sort of way to get those people taken care of first.

That’s the exact position I’m in. Been trying to realm transfer to get in a friend from work’s guild for raiding and can’t.

Hard to have improved communication when you just fired half your CS staff last year.

On the subject though, I’m amazed this auction house mail issue is still on-going. This is very serious for anyone that uses the auction house any amount of time.

And they could alleviate a lot of players concerns by just addressing people directly. We need a blue post update here. Hell, even their support staff on twitter are sending people to this thread that has 0 new information.

Did they system actually generate an in-game mail? The “answer” provided by doesn’t state that your auction house mails are simply not showing.

Think about it. We got an answer about how out ‘inbox’ works.

You post 200 auctions and they all sell. But you can only see the first, what 20-25 (I forget the max display). Those have a 30 day expiration. The rest in the queue, won’t start their timer until they get displayed.

Reading this as an explanation, one would assume then that the issue is the mail sent by the auction house just simply aren’t showing.

Let’s be clear, this IS AN ASSUMPTION.

The post did not state that the issue was that mail generate by the auction house is not showing.

The other assumption we are all working on is that the actual records of the Auction House listings were, in fact, preserved.

None of us know that to be the actual case.

Now ideally even if those records were lost, if the system did generate a ‘mail request’ to send the gold, then there would be a record of that and what it attached.

Thing is, my worry is now that the bug is far worse then they have let on.

If it was simply, yeah the sale generated a bad mail request, you’d think they could write a query to find all of the mail that was suppose to have been sent. Sum up the cash, kill the messages in the void and generate a new mail for each user with the correct amount of gold in it. In all honesty, I don’t know how layered the DB is Blizzard’s case. I’m no SQL query expert, but I’ve had to write more than a few.

So if records were kept, then in reality, the ability to query the system should be there. It may be complex, but it’s a day or two of work with a few people.

But if the bug is worse than we assume, then this may not have an easy resolution.

If that is the case im assuming they are trying to find the root of that problem, because quering the database and “tunneling” the AH mails to our characters is a very manual labor and it doesnt solve the problem. Maybe the problem is on one of their legacy systems and some sort of function didnt translate to the new system.

A faith-based AH sounds like a tax dodge, contacting the IRS to investigate.

Was hoping this would have been fixed with the Tuesday reset but apparently not. They say that the gold will still be delivered but is that 100% certainty? I feel like less people are using the AH right now because they aren’t getting their gold so less items on there to choose from.

If someone is aware of this issue, I’m sure they are holding off on listing any items on the AH. The uncertainty of whether or not you’ll see the proceeds from your auction should scare everyone away from using it.

I’m still posting my auctions. It’s the last patch of the expansion, so it’s the last time I can really count on making large sums of gold for the Brutosaur mount before it’s removed. Besides, the sub for my main account ends in a few days and the sub for my second account shortly thereafter. If my gold doesn’t show up by then, I’m just going to take it as a sign that it’s time to move on.

NA unscheduled maintenance in 20 minutes…let’s see if this fixes it, I’m not getting myt hopes up since they haven’t updated but we shall see.
