so for those who do not know
and trust me there is alot of players an new players who dont know
we sell our mats ,flasks, pots , ore .cloth, enchants, food ,
all commodities across half the world . all of America . brazil , Canada , and yes too Australia .south Korea .phillipines all Islands in between including hawaii . all oceanic islands including NZ an fiji .
and Alliance sell to horde an horde to alliance across the world now
thats why the Auction House is cheap .
a bit too cheap but this was inevitable .
low pop servers would only struggle with other items an pets an mounts and amor an weapons
blizzards solution came from other mmorpgs such as final fantasy an guild wars 2 , and many others
the gold tokenjs are below 200k just due to the weak dollars in the US an Australia and all oceanic islands in between
thank you blizzard for making this possible
much appreciated
This was a little bit painful to read but I do like the bigger AH.
I hate to be the naysayer but I hate it. With how the new AH works you can’t choose what you want to buy and for how much. First few days of trying to buy resources to level my tailoring I had to buy cloth at no more than 10 at a time. Any more and it became exponential more common that the item would be “unavailable.”
In theory it’s lovely, but they need to work on the implementation better.
Well, no. It’s a region-wide AH now. Which means that all of NA trades to each other in NA, all of Brazil trades to everyone in Brazil, etc. It’s not the entire world trading to the entire world. It’s separated by region, which is much broader than just server specific, like it used to be, but it’s not quite as big as you think it is.
Also incorrect. I’m pretty sure there’s still a faction divide on the AH, though there used to be (and I think there still might be) a cross-faction AH, that has much more limited access but does allow Horde and Alliance to trade. I actually bought an Alliance-only pet on my Horde back in Wrath.
Made a mistake, the AH is indeed cross-faction now.
Anyway, having said all that, I do enjoy the new AH for buying things, but I hate it for selling things, which I frequently do much more often, when I get settled into an expansion. It’s a lot harder to make gold now, but at least it’s much easier to get stuff. If I had more crafting professions, I could definitely make decent gold, because mats are cheap and regionwide, but armor is still server-specific, and pricey.
they removed the faction divide to the AH a while back.
This happens when there are no longer any at that price point. When you look at the listing it will tell you how many of the item is available at that price. Don’t try to buy more than that number and most of the time you should be fine.
Sometimes though someone else will buy at that price between the time you serched and hit the buy button and the number listed will have chaged. To avoid that, try buying the second cheapest option instead of the cheapest.
Well go figure. Okay, I stand corrected then. Shows you how much I pay attention.
So wait, so…if the AH is region-wide now, but it’s also cross-faction since 6.0, you could theoretically trade goods from your Horde to Alliance on totally different servers and not only that, but transfer as much gold as you wanted to those characters. All you’d need to do is price one item at like 500k on your Horde and buy it with your Alliance, if they had the 500k and bam.
Blizz didn’t see a problem with that?
Wait, holy crap, is that why you see some items priced ridiculously high?
well… actually. the Region wide part only affects trade goods. gear and such similar stuff is still server locked.
given that the wow token exists, its less of a problem since any server could get a mass injection of gold from another server than happened to sell that token.
also… seems like, you can just open free trade cross faction with you alts on the same server. i think open faction trade was on the 9.2.5 patch notes
