Auction House botting, the new way to make money and Blizzard do nothing

For some time I was tracking multiple players botting in the AH, the most popular is a druid posting Shrouded Cloth for more than 24 hours and counting in Orgrimmar, he post exacly 25 seconds before you buy his item, 1.1g and posting 1 by 1. I chrono for more than 35 minutes and there is exactly 25 seconds between each post (before you buy his item of course), if you track the AH in other servers like BleedingHollow you’re going to see other people with the same behavior. Why Blizzard can’t detect a player who is posting every 25 seconds for more than 24 hours ? Of course they’re using third party app to do that and that is a Violation of Terms and Conditions. I had to do this posting on the Forum because I’m sure there is more ppl like this guy out there

First off naming on the forum isn’t allowed, so I’d edit your post. Also if they’re level 1, you can kill them with the Huntsman tank trinket on a paladin. I often go through and clear out some level 1 bots when I’m bored.

  • How many time?
  • How did you stayed up 24 hours checking the AH?

You need to give details to your story so that we can judge whether it is believable.

This thread is going to get removed if you don’t remove that dudes name.

Also… why does it matter if they’re AH botting?

Thanks for editing, is lvl 50 and is not the only one, I hope Blizzard will be able to detect them and drop the hammer, isn’t fun play the AH like that

Yeah we have some people who sit at the auction house for entire days. There’s literally one next to me. I can take off 50% of their HP with the trinket but I need a second paladin to finish them off

About to recruit my own army of light to purge the AH. Luckily my market is pretty low, and I’ve learned what time my competition logs on. It sucks for those trying to compete in a bot filled market.

Obvious not awake all 24 hours but go sleep at 12 and that guy was posting, woke up at 6 and was posting, 3 pm posting, 6pm posting all time same way, Now I have more than 2 hours in front of him in the AH Org and still there. Every time I check or my friend him or her was posting same way.

maybe I can buy cheap stuff from them.

Wait, for you to actually know that as a fact then you have to been there 24 hours a day. So does that make you a bot as well?!?

Yes you can there is a like 3 seconds delay keep refreshing, I did it But im bored after many time doing

I usually leave wow open while I do other things so I can check my market every 10 minutes for people posting over me. Although I have a friend who plays while I sleep and they’ve seen them as well. I’ve debated sitting here for 24 hours to see if they move but then I have to ask myself if it’s worth it. :sob:

You mean you aren’t a bot? :fearful:

Wait, so you basically AFK the AH but then assume that anyone else showing the same pattern of behavior isn’t?

Read the whole post, people posting every 25 seconds for days, not afk checking the AH cancelling and reposting, there is a huge difference.

Usually when they’re here for 24 hours a day yeah. When you post an item and immediately see them move without fail to the mailbox after pulling down 40 auction to automatically repost, it’s a decent tell. I’m not talking about a few minutes, it’s instant.

I’m not sure I understand. Are you saying that someone is in selling something on the AH in quantities of 1, over an extended period of time? If so, why is this bad?

PS and re-edit: I realised you are talking an AH bot of some sort, and if so, report it. Get everyone you know to report it. And report whenever you see another character doing the same thing. Say you believe it to be a bot, to cover yourself, and leave it up to them to decide.

I don’t know if this is what they’re referring to, but a few people on my server are always listing 1 unit of a high volume crafting material for far less than it’s worth to try to bait people to undercut or match the price and then (i assume) automatically buy the cheap ones.

Yep, thanks for the Tip, we did it, it is obvious, booty bay is full of ppl doing the same for days, that is not a human behavior you cannot be posting and buying every few seconds for days, there is nothing to decide when you see the logs

uh huh…Ive had players whisper me accusing me of being a bot…of cheating, etc.
guess what? Im NOT a bot and I DONT cheat.
So theres that.

Same thing here. I like to buy their one item and relist out of spite.

And yes, you’re correct: I’ve fallen for it a few times and my listings were instantly bought out.
