Auberdine to Ironforge and beyond?

I was trying to remember: some players took alternate routes from Menethil Harbor (swimming along the coast?) to get to IF/SW faster? What is the fastest method?

I was thinking, as a NE, would it be faster to die at Menethil Harbor and wisp form run to Thelsamar, use the spirit healer, and repeat to IF since you would have a +movement speed buff dead? I think at some point, over these many years, they changed spirit healers to revive you at the Spirit Healer nearest your corpse, but I don’t think it was vanilla? Ideas? Could that also be used for Ratchet, Everlook, and Thorium Point? I remember the long, arduous trek from Moonglade to Westfall as a L16? 18? NE Druid to learn to become a frighteningly ugly seal with no abilities…

I would like to shorten it as… dramatically as possible haha.

Running, with the occasional corpse run is fastest.

thats great if you’re lvl 34

But if you don’t get sent back to the spirit healer, and can resurrect at the spirit healer you find with your wisp form, would it not be better to do it that way/ no mob avoidance and the 25 or 50% move speed while dead…

Thank you! That’s what I was trying to remember! Although, that means you’ll still have to run to Thelsamar, eventually, to get that stupid flight path😭.

Just kidding - I would do that anyway, eventually. No gray on my maps!:nail_care:t2:

At startup running from Menethil to IF will be pathetically easy. Just have to not be the ones who draw the 1 croc aggro. Even the orcs in the cave are easily run past, all it takes is timing.

Getting the FPs along the way is a good idea as well.

Why only at start up? It doesn’t change later.

When did I state only at startup?

You seem to follow me around a lot, just to act combative, and it’s kind of creepy.

You’re the one who mentioned start up.

I’m not necessarily arguing the difficulty itself (although I have bad personal luck with those Dragonmaw jerks at Dun Algaz…), but would dying as a NE and using the speedy wisp form be advantageous or will the Spirit Healer be like “Hey! I weakened and gave you a one way ticket back to the Wetlands! Sorry you got lost! Good luck beating a ram in a fist fight!”?

Another thing to consider is the exploration XP you’ll accumulate on the way.

That’s true. I hadn’t considered that… I forget if it drops precipitously by the time you’re level appropriate for that zone? I would probably still take the fastest route, even if I didn’t get the exploration exp, because I would rather quest or dungeon spam haha. It’s just such a long run!:sob:

This guy actually has a condition, I would just ignore any and all of his posts. Idk if he forgets what he says, or if he just likes to heavily imply stuff just to say “I didn’t say that”.

I did this on a NE Warrior alt that was under level 10 way back in the day. Wanted 2-H Sword skill or something.

I don’t recall exactly but it seems like I pretty much had to run the whole thing because of where I res’d from the Spirit Healer. It would be super simple if all you had to do is travel as a ghost and resurrect near IF.

I am not at all shocked that you would find a kindred spirit on the forum. Heck, I began to suspect it was another of your alts, due to the similarity of not understanding complete sentences and lack of reading comprehension in general.

Your phrasing of “at startup” confused people into thinking you meant “only at startup”. It was poor phrasing on your part and instead of getting defensive when asked about it, you could simply have clarified what you meant.

Do it alive for no other reason then the flight paths. But if you want to know the fastest way then its paying a warlock to summon you (requires lock lv 20). Or paying for a mage port (requires mage lv 40+?).

Here, let me expand on it for those who insist on being willfully obtuse:

AT STARTUP there will be literally hordes of people making the very same run, herd-like. The crocs and orcs can only target one person at a time, and when you are in such a herd AT STARTUP, those mobs are easily avoided. Making it PATHETICALLY EASY. Anyone who has actually made that run AT SERVER STARTUP would know that the run during that time is quite different than other times.

Anyone that was actually confused by how I “phrased it” can rest easily now, their minds at ease. Couldn’t possibly be because it is just the same cast of characters intentionally misreading forum posts just to cause friction.

It makes a lot more sense now that you explain it. I honestly wasn’t thinking of it that way so I assume others weren’t as well. I don’t think people are being willfully obtuse, you just have to realize that people can’t read minds and you will often need to more fully explain yourself to be understood in text mediums.
