Attunements to unlock content for dungeons and raids

Why don’t you guys bring this back? Make attunements like Ubrs where you have to grind out multiple dungeons in order to “progress” into harder content like raids and getting gear along the way. People would want to do dungeons again and no do 1 or 2 Mythic dungeons and call it for the week. I’ve logged on recently and it has been taking longer and longer to queue random dungeons because no one wants to do them any more. It’s just mythic or gtfo. Instead of having a “heart of azeroth” necklace you could of had a necklace to unlock certain content in the game. I’m being honest, this game has lost its steam. Bring back the good ol’ content that you guys have taken away.

You mean like they did for the two Suramar dungeons initially and iirc people hated having to do the questlines for that?

They tried to “bring back” difficulty in Cataclysm and people left in droves. Then they swung the pendulum back to casual and people still left in droves. Now they have a happy middle ground where casuals can access any content but there’s still difficult content for the hardcore in the form of mythic.

The shortest queue times for dungeons ever was WotLK (near instant even for DPS) where you just AOE down everything and finish the dungeon in 12-15 minutes. Adding loops and hurdles and increasing difficulty is not how you decrease queue time.

If you really want attunements, look at the TBC attunements. Those were truly a grind and it’s a good thing that they’re not around anymore.

Don’t forget the Horde Ony Attune. That was a thrill.

Because people hate that?

After creating attunements for Court of Stars, The Arcway, and Karazhan and saying they’d never remove that requirement nor the “mythic-only” one, they ended up having to create heroic versions for LFD.

When I see changes like that I presume they are forced by lack of interest by the playerbase.

I though people stopped doing dungeons was because of their crappy design and how poor the rewards they are.

I rather enjoyed getting my Medallion of Karabor. It was an actual progression, from zone quests to SSC, to TK:Eye, to MH until you finally arrived at BT.

So long as they’re playing musical chairs with spec abilities, I think the only way attunements would work is if they were account wide.

But it was a nightmare when it came to recruitment.

“Okay boys and girls, we’re turning this raid around and heading back to SCC so we can key our new recruit.”

Raid collective: Groans.

Well, i originally came from EQ where we were used to that with PoP’s extensive tiered flagging system. By comparison, the attunements in WoW were a breeze.

The problem was that it would eat up a night of progression for us. We didn’t need the loot as we were picking up T6 while SCC and TK were T5. So having to go back to get someone keyed wasted a night of raiding that could of been used for progression.

My guild came from EQ so even then, it wasn’t a pleasant experience as it was just wasted time for us. But we also were something like 6 or 9 months ahead of our server competition.

Years ago, I led the movement against attunements to get into raids.

Remember that crazy attunement chart from the first expansion?

Having to attune people to get into raids was a nightmare. We don’t want that back.
