I finally got Strike of the Hydra today, I am a very happy melee hunter.
Sucks we’re getting nerfed later today, but c’est la vie.

Lol I watched a group that had the Hydra drop, but there were no warriors.
Indeed it went to a Hunter, so you’re not the only one lol.
It’s got “Moonkin with Hand of Ragnaros” vibes lol.
Just makes people salty to look at.

Why’s it have to be a ninja? For one, melee hunters are literally a thing…
And for another, some groups (like most of the groups in my guild) already have the 2H epic sword for pretty much every warrior and paladin, regardless of role in our groups, so…

Honestly it really is plenty viable. I’ve been full survival since day 1, sitting around at 2.2k HP buffed most people just see hunter and assume if they get close its cinched, then they eat 600/800 damage burst from Raptor/Flanking, and have a hard time hitting though deterrence which pushes me up to 55% dodge.
Losing the stam from trident hurts me slightly, but this huge top end on Hydra makes for some fun surprise burst against people that get cocky.
Don’t worry, you’ll hear this all of SoD, even Hunter weapons get claimed by Warriors. If any other class can benefit from a weapon Hunters can benefit from, they sook and moan if a Hunter gets it. Especially Warriors.
Anything that makes warriors seethe is alright with me.
You dw or 2h melee?
Both really. I swap pretty freely. Got the fathom blade early, and the fist weapons not long after. DW is nice to see my top damage be something other than my pet, but 2h windfury crits ripping aggro from tanks is fun in its own right.
To add on to this I really wish some of the talents that affect ranged could affect melee as well. Hawks improved attack speed, rapid fire, etc. Would make DW actually feel really good and keep the spec viable, but at this rate Warriors/rogues are gonna sky rocket past come 40.
It probably will end up a meme spec as phases go on though if it doesn’t get any big love with no runes, or some base changes.
I still don’t see the epics in bfd. Maybe I should claim a refund on my sub

Yes every melee weapon BELONGS to warriors lmao.
Wars and paladin benefit from it most, so yes they should be first priority for that drop, not greedy af hunters that need on my cloth int gear when I’m playing my warlock
lol I don’t even have the weapon and can out preform equally geared wars with strike, cause it’s better for a hunter in PvE. They should be using the broken duel wield spec.
Attention, I have a further update, we now have the crossbow as well. At this point, we might as well go for the 3 piece and get the staff, may the RNG gods be kind.
