Please not I include myself in this. I mean a quick search reveals I’m biased.
“Final Fantasy 14 director Naoki Yoshida doesn’t appreciate people dunking on World of Warcraft, saying that his game “wouldn’t exist” without Blizzard’s MMO and that comparing the two is “the wrong conversation to have.”” - Taylor, M.

WoW was very much influential in the re-development of FFXIV. After Naoki Yoshida took over as producer he urged his team members to play contemporary western MMO’s to get proper inspiration on how to develop an MMO that was better than the original FFXIV release.
FFXIV wouldn’t be where it was right now without World of Warcraft.
People really need to stop thinking that we’re criticizing WoW because we think FFXIV is better–we’re criticizing WoW because we want the game that we love brought back.

Exactly. I really want wow to feel like it did in TBC/ wrath. Not that I want to play the old expacs, I just want the game to be good like that.
I used to raid fairly hard. In wrath my guild had several server firsts etc… left in cata because I hated how they changed Druid.
I came back for legion intending to push progression in mythic. I tried but it wasn’t fun, didn’t feel rewarding, and the effort to push progression didn’t feel “right”. So I found a casual guild and did heroic raiding. Had fun, thought I was back into wow… then BFA…. Done… back for this crap show of an expac… I’ve gone to FF with the goal of doing ultimates.
I say I want to do ultimates but I’m having to much fun leveling up jobs.
Seriously I’ve gone so far off track. I’m farming glamour, emotes, and now I want to get every job because roulette is more fun than legally should be allowed. So eventually I may make my way over to ultimates.

Both games are good on some level. Most of the people who play MMOs usually play both at one point or another.
I’ve been subbed to both for years. I even played FFXIV 1.0 for some reason. Taking a break from one to play another isn’t an issue. Some people on here just don’t get that.
