I love when people make ‘cooked’ statements like this before real content is even out.
- Aug is not better for solo content, not even close.
- Dev needs gear and tier to crank, which it always has.

dont need data, we are playing the game just go play some delves as Aug then play them as Dev and see how much longer your TTK is.
Pres with the enrage stack curio on Brann dumpsters both of them for delves lmao, no reason to touch the dps specs.
Also, performance in delves (or solo content for that matter) does not equal a spec being ‘cooked’, lol.
ehh that doesnt work in the open world which is where i found out dev was so bad.
i was doing one of the elite quest and it took forever to kill the bees, moment i swapped to aug im like 2 shutting them.
The specific example you have was delves lol, so that’s why I responded in kind.
I can see being tanker as Aug as a draw, but if you’re doing more damage as Aug solo you’re just playing dev poorly.
At 588 dev is just about doubling my personal DPS vs Aug.
Do what works for you and what’s fun, but don’t spread misinformation about a spec just because you aren’t playing it well.
Aug is objectively better for all forms of content. This has been tested and tested, and both player experience and the numbers we have available from numerous sources back it up. Said numbers show this isn’t going to change on Tuesday, and it’s going to continue being the superior spec in all areas of the game until Devastation receives significant changes.

DPS on Dev is 856K 44 Seconds
DPS on Aug is 790K 44 Seconds
if you are playing Chronowarden Aug it is important to living flame after you do your initial burst because it can repeat 25% of the damage you just dealt.
if you are dealing 400K dmg on Aug you are playing it incorrectly.
i also wanted to point out the combo of open world/delve content the uptime of aug is crazy every 27 seconds you can destroy groups of enemies with Ebon Might>FULL empower Fire Breat>Upheveal>Living Flame.
where Dev has a long winded uptime behind dragon’s fury.

None of your statements add up.
You claimed dev was cooked, then you admitted (with the data you said we didn’t need) that dev does more damage. How were you failing on the bees as dev and “2 shutting” them as Aug when your own play test on the dummies proves that dev does more damage?
You also have to wait 2 minutes to get LESS DPS than dev when dev can repeat their burst far more frequently in open world.

70DPS in a long 40 second rotation doesnt outweigh the survivability and just flat out low downtime AuG offers in solo content.
youre never doing big DPS rotations like that in solo.
The more you say the more it’s abundantly clear you don’t understand how to play the class.

It is technically, but there is no support role, its still labeled literally DPS in the game
Its like high elf “fans” saying void elves are high elves, but in-game and all classifications they are called void elves.
Which goes back to, you queue as DPS for augmentation, all content is considered DPS for augmentation. NOWHERE in game does it say its a support role.
So people can say its support, but its still considered by blizzard and in-game to be a DPS spec.
As for the topic. Dev definitely does more damage than the other two specs, aug is significantly sturdier for soloing delves and high end content…preservation SEEMS to do more damage however than aug with more sustain/defenses than both (but dev still does more damage). I am still messing with my aug build, but it doesn’t do as much damage for me as dev or pres
For soloing hard content not meant to be soloed (things like DK, paladin, warlock, hunter etc all can) pres is definitely the way to go. Maybe aug if can figure out talents for damage. it is sorta a support spec after all, just in-game it clearly says DPS in all its roles.
To solo content hard content, its mostly about sustain and defenses than damage.
Pres is even better.
260k + 116k chronoflames (tooltip). 1.3-1.6 million fire breath crits with tip the scales lol. 400k disintegrate + 25% essence burst boost for 500k (tooltip).
Its ridiculous
lmao obviously it doesn’t say it is a support DPS literally but if you read the skills you know it’s group based NOT SOLO CONTENT and most of your performance is based on buffs on other people not single target burst.

The point is, thats a classification that the players came up with. Like on the forums people say high elves are void elves cause they have high elf skins…but in game…and by blizzard, augmentation is called literally DPS (and void elves everywhere). So therefor it isn’t a support spec according to blizzard, even if it has support skills. Its literally DPS.
Prot paladins get heals, they can heal people but that doesn’t make them a heal spec. Blood DK outheals EVERYONE by a landslide, but again they are a tank not a healer.
If blizzard wanted to fix that, they can add a support role (though only one spec would queue for it unless more support specs are added). But they don’t, so its DPS.
And to add, I don’t care what people call it. Blizzard calls it a DPS role, so to me its a DPS role with support skills.
