Atiesh on Feral?

While the answer is obvious to me, it’s been interesting to hear people’s reasons for and against.

So, yes or no? Why?

Good and bad takes accepted.

Yes, make them leave mom alone they wanted oranges with hor, let them chase atiesh now

While superpowerful on its on for the person who gets it. Atiesh is also known for it’s party wide buff. Ferals usually sit in melee group with warriors, rogues, melee hunters, etc. because of the Leader of the Pack talent, which as you know, increases melee and ranged crit chance.
But Druid Atiesh (as it is now):
“Increases the spell critical chance of all party members within 30 yards by 2%.”

I’d imagine there’s much better options in raid such as your Priests/Mages/Boomkins/Restos druid and Warlock DPS based on group composition. I excluded Warlock tank since they’ll most likely be in tank group.

While it does provide feral AP; imo, Atiesh is a caster dps or healing weapon based on all the other stats or bonuses it provides to the player and group for each of the classes.

I think its great for a Druid that heals or booms in raid but likes to go feral in pvp. A raiding caster wouldn’t get Eye of Nerub until all the Hunters got it (though that may happen in the time spent collecting splinters), and Atiesh offers probably the 2nd best Feral DPS weapon. But for all the reasons mentioned by Kermalite, I don’t think any raiding guild would allow an exclusively feral druid to get this first, especially when a raiding feral could just roll on the Eye with Hunters. Also, since the staff specs are different depending on class, raids will probably get more benefit from the staff in the hands of a pure caster since they would use the full power of the staff without ‘wasted’ bonuses.

After a few caster have it though, or rolling on splinters in PUGs, I would say sure Ferals go for it if you so desire.

You do something like 800 less dps than an Eye of Nerub, the Feral AP would be better suited on MoM and the effect would be nice on Bear. Too many casters want Atiesh already anyway.

Yeah it’s literally worse than the polearm no one wants but feral. Giving atiesh to a feral is grief. Apparently some guilds still don’t have an atiesh yet though. Before phase ends most decent guilds will have 6-8 atieshes.

Once basically all your other casters have it - yes

Complete waste otherwise. You gear Atiesh for the aura and feral is going to be in the melee group. Melee doesn’t need 2% spell crit more than ranged does.

Even at that point feral doesn’t want it. It’s not bis. It’s a 800 DPS loss.

How many splinters drop in HM? 2 runs without HM we have 11. Friends guild has 4.

I would assume its more common to give it to alliance druid, to help buff the ret paladins who are exodins

Hm4 we get about 2 per boss sometimes 3. Hm3 we got 1 per boss sometimes 2

Normal - 30% chance of 1

Lvl 2 - 100% chance of 1; 30% chance of 2

Lvl 4 - 100% chance of 2; 30% chance of 3

Ive thought alot about this as a PVP feral,

So far ive decided not to chase it. After all, its hard to chase a wepon where i lose my r14 wepons -5% ALL damage reduction and 400 less HP.

Sure 200 bonus AP is nice but whats NOT nice is taking 5% more damage from EVERYTHING. it also makes bear go from 1/4th damage reduction back to 1/5th with surival of the fittest rune.

Really hard for me to justify it for pvp but it might be worth it when swapping back and fourth to tree form.

like you could maybe make a very niche case for a bear feral but generally no

It’s just a flat 800 dps loss if you use the weapon, hell at this point I’d imagine Hand of Rag does better? Still want the Feral AP to move to the MoM, that’d be a legit Feral weapon.

I actually saw a feral with Atiesh the other day.

He was trying to argue it was good for him and that he didn’t grief his entire guild taking it.

Doesnt change if bosses die or not. Hell stack him with tank lock and some enc shamans even a hunter. Its about who has done what and or been in guild longest really. Cause the wep dont make or break a raid clear

If the guy deserves it, sure, but it literally isn’t BiS and it’s a stick for Orgrimmar fashion and Kara teleporting

It’s casters first, if every caster has it then sure give on to your Cat
