when you win a match? lose a certain number of matches?
when you queue for pvp for the first time are you queing at the bottom of the rating ladder or somewhere in the middle? do you still end up getting a rating even if you lose a bunch of matches in a row?
Literally nothing about pvp rating is explained in this game and googling does not answer a single question about it.
You donât get rating for losses, but up to like 1,000 CR (Current Rating) or so, youâre getting 94 points for a win. Around there it starts to slow down depending on your matchmaking rating (mmr).
If youâre like 1200 cr at 1800 mmr, you wonât lose cr when you lose and gain like 20 cr for a win. You start to losing rating when your mmr and cr are close.
1750 cr and 1800 mmr, youâll lose some points. 1800 cr and 1750 mmr, youâll lose more because the game is trying to get you to the mmr youâre playing at. Vice versa, youâll gain more or less depending on your mmr vs cr.
you gain / lose points when you win / lose matches
basically yeah
thereâs two numbers
MMR and CR
mmr is your âmatch making ratingâ this determines your âskill levelâ to match you against players with a similar skill level
CR is your âcurrent ratingâ this is the number all rewards are tied to
this is the numbers that you and other players will see all the time
your MMR moves faster than your cr in both directions to keep you more evenly matched depending on your success/failure
you will start at 0CR with around 1000-1200 mmr (it used to be 1500 mmr)
if you lose your first 10 games you can go below 1000 mmr with players who also lost a bunch of games at that âentryâ level
the more wins you get in a row the faster your mmr will ramp
the higher your MMR and your opponents MMR is than your CR determines how many points youâll gain per winning
the same is true about deficits and losses
no you donât ever get points for losing
but from 0-1200 or so you will not lose points when you lose and you will gain substantially more points per win than normal
at about 1400 or 1500 cr/mmr youâll start to gain 12-14cr per win against similar mmr players and lose 9cr against similar mmr players
if you win say 10 games in a row at 1500 youâll gain about 150cr bringing you up to 1650 but your mmr moves faster and will likely put you against 1800 or 1900 teams since youâve demonstrated that youâre better than the 1500 teams
at this point youâll gain up to 22 pts a win and 0 points for losses until you lose enough in a row that your mmr drops back down to your cr and youâll go back to 14W / 9L
you are successfully placed in the right MMR bracket once youâre winning/losing 50% of your games and at this rate you will slowly climb gaining 12-14 and losing 9
That sucks i find rated pvp super boring and i only need to do it to level my pvp gear. Sounds like id have to grind un fun crap forever⌠just killed my motivation to play this game at all. fun up until this point but now the choice is either be stuck with bad gear or do un fun content. Wish we could level conquest gear without needing to actually party up with people before queuing.
I tried 4 matches of 2s arenas and lost every one. First time ever doing arenas and i feel like they put me with people whove been doing them for years. If thats what i have to do to level pvp gear im just going to play a different game
Next expansion will have 2 sets like it used to be. One you gain with honor, then another from rated, which will be superior to the honor set. It should also have a solo queue system so no need to party up iirc? Right now you can also do Rated Battlegrounds (RBGs) and get the rating from those if you find 10v10 more enjoyable.
The game is old, so most have been doing arenas for years. PvP in WoW isnât really new person friendly. Game is all about knowing what enemy burst looks like and reacting with your defensive spells properly, as well as your teammates reacting, and everyoneâs positioning. If you donât put in the time to learn what other classes are capable of, you wonât have a good time and wonât be able to push higher.
Losing is only a part of why they arent fun. gameplay experience is just vastly inferior to regular battlegrounds. You get CCd and interupted 10x more. You have less opportunities for bursting because people are more aware of your precense. People line of sight you more⌠its just not as fun as regular battlegrounds even if you win.
Itâs only bad if youâre doing any form of rated content. The vast majority of the people youâll ever encounter in bgs have absolutely no idea whatâs going on or how to do anything beyond padding in team fights.
You can just level gear with rbgs but goodluck with that. The brackets unbelievably toxic and stale.
Enjoying normal bgs is fine but you seem to just want to pve on people whoâre basically training dummies.
