At What Level Should I Leave Teldrassil and Head for Darkshore?

Yeah, I know this is a newb question, but I haven’t leveled a Night Elf since pre-Cata, and this is for my new role-playing series. Is level 11 to early? Or should I wait?

Thank you!

Since it all scales you can technically stay there until you’ve run out of quests, but Darkshore’s level range starts at 10 so you’re good to head over there whenever you like.

Thank you! Also, since Auberdine is toast, how do I reach it? Is there a flight point that will take me there? Or is it a specific quest I need to unlock?

Starting zones cap at 15 for scaling, so you’ll get reduced XP after that.

You should finish quests well before that unless you have rest XP and gains from Herbalism, and even then you’d have to kill quite a few extra mobs.

In Darnassus, near the bank, there is a big red portal. Going through the portal takes you to Ruth’eran Village, where you can get a portal or boat to Lor’danel in Darkshore.

Thank you for the tips!

I only wanted to spend the first 10 levels in Teldrassil before I have Sylvannus burn it to the ground and have Skylla’s adventure really begin

Thankfully, it’s not burnt until you get to 110. Any time before that, you can still go back without timewalking.

True, but in my version of events, Sylvannus destroys Teldrassil before the events of BfA. This is how Skylla and Sylvannus become enemies

Pretty much this, You’re golden to run Teldrassil till you’ve run out of quests due to zone scaling which everyone hates.

I’m cool with it, personally :man_shrugging:t4:

Lets me finish zones with alts without feeling like I’m wasting time not getting full exp for it.

In that version of events, you shouldn’t do Darkshore quests, because the entire zone is destroyed before Teldrassil is burned.

Hmmm…

But then where should I go? I want to keep this series in Kalimdor since the parent series “The Strange Adventures of Gravemind the Warlock” takes place in the Eastern Kingdoms from levels 1-60.

If you start to smell smoke, you’ve waited too long

You are going to have a hard time if you want to be lore-accurate from 1-120 on a NE who escaped a burning Teldrassil at level 10ish.

Canonically, you would have been one of the civilians rescued by me and other 110s who made hippogryph runs to Teldrassil while it was burning during the War of Thorns questline. All of those Night Elves were evacuated to Stormwind via portal, and they currently “live” in the Stormwind Embassy and surrounding environs, mostly helping the farmers in Stormwind to grow their crops.

For questing, I’d suggest Westfall>Redridge>Duskwood>Northern Stranglethorn>Cape of Stranglethorn>Southern Barrens>Thousand Needles>Tanaris>Un’goro Crater>Silithus, but I’d be surprised if you got through the end of that before 60. Alternately, you could hop the Deeprun Tram to Ironforge, then quest in Loch Modan>Wetlands>Arathi>Hillsbrad>Hinterlands>Western Plaguelands>Eastern Plaguelands>Badlands>Searing Gorge>Burning Steppes>Blasted Lands, but again, I doubt you’d get that far before 60.

The only option to stay in Kalimdor the whole time would be to ignore the burning of Teldrassil until 60 - maybe for your character everything was fine when you left, you were out of touch for a while, and when you went back home to visit your family after adventuring for a while, you found the tree burned down and everyone you ever knew is dead. If you go that route, you could go Darkshore>Ashenvale>Stonetalon>Desolace>Feralas>Thousand Needles>Tanaris>Un’goro>Silithus, or Darkshore>Ashenvale>Desolace>Feralas>Felwood>Winterspring.

Alternately, you could pretend you spoke with Zidormi to timewalk back to before the burning, or if you are a Mage, you could pretend Alter Time (which all Mages will have in Shadowlands) allowed you to do the same.

GREAT suggestion!

For context, I’ll only be leveling to 60 since I already role played the expansions in the current series. Then I’ll be role playing how she gets boosted to 120. As you said, though, it might be better to save the burning of Teldrassil for the finale, then have her start out by meeting the title character of the main series. But at the same time, I want to sow the seeds of anger with Sylvannus early on since she will be the main villain of this story. So many choices!

Teldrassil scales all the way to 60. If you really want to finish the zone story there, you can stay until you’re done.

Darkshore can be entered at level 10 and also scales to 60.

Right now I’m thinking Teldrassil > Darkshore > Ashenvale > Stonetalon > Tenaris > Un’Goro Crater. How does that sound? 10 levels per zone. Does that seem realistic? Or should I include Feralas as well?

You do what you want. Stay in each zone for however long you want. You may end up in some zones for far more than 10 levels, others far less.

Honestly i only ever get so far before my leveling experience devolves into dungeon grinding

See that’s the thing. I need to time this right. Skylla isn’t suppose to leave Kalimdor (no dungeons this time), and I want to be able to explore without completely short-changing a zone (except Teldrassil).
