Fire’s burst is aggro-stealing-spiky-insane in PVE.
When combustion ends, though, it’s sluggish, it doesnt feel right at all. We can move while scorching when needed, but its damage is so low it’s nearly nothing (disregarding the lvl 15 talent on Execute phase).
Fireball needs a faster casting speed or a tweak that makes it faster.
Something like the Azerite trait ALBEIT reworking that its stacks reset on Crit. Maybe lose some stacks but not all of it… As it stands its just a meme build (AKA 0 crit+ 3 faster fireball Azerite Traits -> 6 stacks into Greater Pyroblast spam).

Fire needs talents to help with baseline crit. The spec feels sluggish and slow because it’s built around the Hot Streak/Pyroblast model. Right now even with stacking crit I struggle to get out of the low 40% range. Compared to Legion where I had close to 60% by this point.
Haste helps some, but without crit you’re still mostly throwing wet noodles (just faster). Blizzard needs to rework something to get the baseline crit up to where fire feels good and then balance the burst phase around this.
Change Phoenix Flames to baseline, which allows us to take Flame On without choosing between the 2. This gives us more auto-crit capability and keeps us from slow hard casting. Change Critical Mass back to a 30% crit bonus from gear from 10% it was nerfed to in Legion. Both of these would be fairly simply changes that would make us hard cast scorch or fireball less and help the spec perform better.

I’m hopefull there will be a tuning pass sometime soon. Mages as a whole just aren’t in a good spot. Fire and arcane especially. Frost does okay, but frost being the competitive raid spec since basically EN is getting really old.

Go check out this website:

(I’m only covering spec specific traits in this discussion because I don’t want to get into the nitty gritty about generic azerite traits)
for a “patchwork” Wildfire and Duplicative Incineration are pretty solid choices, then for a add-cleave boss fight you’re best off going Wildfire and Firemind, lastly for m+ Wildfire and Firemind barely edges out Wildfire and Duplicative Incineration so really its 100% your call and I would suggest simming yourself first to see what you come up with.
I vastly prefer meteor, but I do find that I sometimes miss meteors when the boss randomly moves (jadefire).
I might try pyroclasm during my raid today.

You are really holding on to that one comment while avoiding answering anything else. The other posters have already gone on to clarify what they meant and push the conversation forward and you just keep pushing that one comment.
You are taking this to the point of being a Red Herring argument.
This thread is dead. Other comments are irrelevant.
