ASUS Rogue overheating causing lag spikes

So this happened the first time and i seen the temperature as high, i cleaned out the fan after unscrewing the bottom, took a vacuum to it ect.

Months later its slowing down again and i chck its overheating, do the same thing but also go out and bought a laptop fan along with my laptops built in one

NOW its still overheating even with the fan and when i clean it its still not doing much like it used to

any ideas on how to keep my laptop cooler because once i have the game open for a while it really gets loud and hot and causes lag spikes

might wanna give throttlestop a try and undervolt it a bit

that is one of the downsides of a gaming laptop, is the limited cooling solution.

If its like most of its ROG design, then keep your laptop elevated since it intakes air from the bottom and exhaust out the back.

Similar to what Sal suggest is to undervolt/underclock your cpu and gpu. You can also cap your fps and/or lower some settings to help reduce this.

Give Intel XTU a try. My favorite tool for undervolting and manually setting up boost clocks for my laptop.

Just remember to cap your tdp at the rated tdp for your cpu, which can be found with a simple Google search for your cpu’s specs.

Also at least with my laptop I have an additional button to instantly run my fans at max when gaming. Your fans don’t have to be maxed out, but you definitely want the fans to ramp up when you game.
