Assassination rogue df thoughts

I have been testing on the ptr and i have some changes i would like to address for the future of df.

.1- Remove death mark or give an option for vendetta, the creation of death mark is so sad gives no energy and pushes for a bleed build type playstyle and its not even good at that soo far, vendetta will always be superior and fit the sin playstyle better so scrap deathmark.

.2- Remove thistle tea honestly shouldn’t need to go into detail for this its terrible, i can also feel that you have been nerfing our energy regain to make it seem like a good pick but both are so bad just no.

.3- Remove echo reprimand and replace some of these shadowland conduit ability’s with some bfa ones to give us options.

.4- Revert Master assassin nerf bring back to 50% crit for 4 seconds .

.5- Now for Aoe - Bring back echoing blades, also poison bomb needs a huge buff like it should do massive damage like it did in legion, also poison bomb should only be 1 point.

.6- Revert elaborate planning back, make one charge 10% and other up to 20% damage increase.

.7- Remove vicious venom or doomblade and add double dose back in .

.8- Buff improved garrote to 100% more damage .

.9- Remove sent of blood it was never good, the 1% agility for every target was never enough with rupture falling off fast you can maybe dot 6-7 targets with it and will be chasing ur tail its horrible you can maybe make it work if u increase to 3-4% per target even if that it still wont be that great.

.10- Revert nerf to alacrity make it this - 1 point 10% chance for 1% haste for 20 seconds stacking up to 5 times , 2 points 20% chance for 2% haste for 20 seconds stacking up to 5 times.

.11- Bring back shrouded suffication.

.12- Aoe in general must be uncapped and with no reducers to all classes - hopefully blizzard learned caps and reducers are terrible for the game especially for M+ an other content that requires it.

Wait… I thought Outlaw was the only capped AoE with Blade Flurry. What Assassination skill are you talking about? If you mean the one that replicates Rupture to multiple nearby targets, it also flies in the face of point (9).

Most of these ‘problems’ are solved with talent synergies or simply not taking the egregious talent (Thistle Tea).

I have played a bit on PTR and I enjoy the changes. It will all boil down to number tuning, but so far so good.

you miss understand when i say aoe cap im talking about in general which now that i type it out i can see the confusion.
also its not so simple as “not taking thistle tea” or talents in general, its to do with lack of choice and them having to nerf our energy generation to make it viable.

most of the talent problems are due to neglect, due to generic talents mainly stemming from shadowlands, if we had a mixture of bfa and legion into the mix there will be better results, but due to dead talents they are leaching us from having them.

Yeah, nerfing energy regen because of talent availability was a faux pas. But that’s the issue I’m trying to point out too.

Despite me believing Talents are fine, I think we have some common ground.

The issue is that Blizzard still controls baseline number tuning that will more or less make talents “tack-ons” instead of meaningful choices.

For some talents, simply not taking them isn’t so simple. I have a post about Tight Spender doing virtually nothing but existing as a talent point tax for digging deeper into the right side of the class tree. For Thistle Tea though, it’s the last of the tree and completely optional. My view is skewed as that’s how final class talents seem to look overall–underwhelming–whether you play Rogue or Monk or Priest…

I should also mention that I’m in the mindset that if I simply hate an ability, I will not take it regardless of power. Other players I group with look at this as me taxing them, but it’s more directly me providing feedback to Blizzard that “I do not want this.” In other words Money Talks, Tauren Excrement Walks. There aren’t enough players willing to sit beside their principles instead of “muh numbers” – but that’s a personal choice and I won’t make that decision for anyone else.

I think an error in thinking is simply that the “left side” is “the assassin side”. It’s not the case though. Ironically, you’d probably be better off stacking the right side of the class tree for Tight Spender, keeping your CP cap minimal, and rolling Elaborate Planning, almost exclusively relying on the minimal Master Assassin for crit chance.

MA is game breaking so the apparent dismal 30% is an acceptable compromise. The legendary in Shadowlands was egregious for a long time and went through multiple nerfs until they realized that it would be virtually unmanageable on a purely mechanics layer. I would also challenge you further that you can replace a good portion of the nerfed crit through talent options in both trees. Again, I don’t recommend going crit as assassination given the current builds and layout, and instead rely on the 30% crit from stealth acting as a pseudo 30% damage bump for openers and mid-fight vanishes (something you might try to do for Garrotes anyways–which makes it a little irritating that only Sub and Outlaw can talent for more efficient Vanish resets).

Please give concrete examples. My mind is drawing a blank. I quit for a better portion of BFA so Azerite traits are dead to me. I played Sin only briefly in Legion too (aka long enough to finish mage tower–the easiest of the three specs), but Kingsbane is in the new talent tree, so if there are other trait examples I’m not able to think of them easily.

Have you played around with Deathmark + Exsanguination? Even though Exsang is net zero on press, the combination feels really strong. I almost feel like Deathmark should be a 45s CD with Exsang being the 90s CD though. Kind of how Collosal Smash and Avatar line up for Arms–the short CD is more meaningful, but they have their best effects together on every other activation.

I should note that with each being a +100% bump (doubles DoTs and double tick rate), they will be very difficult to avoid making one strong without the other. Kind of like how the Blizz D3 Team struggles to balance the stacking +100% powers in Diablo 3. In WoW, effects that meaningful would be hard to balance…
