Assassination or subtlety rogue build for pve/pvp?

Im finding the combat tree so damn boring right now and reading the talents for assassination and subtlety makes it seem like these specs are so much more fun. What are the pros and cons for each for pvp/pve?

Assassination is really the better PvE/PvP spec. But it’s not as good as Combat Daggers (or Swords) until you have enough crit.

Hemo does work, but isn’t quite as good from what I’ve seen.

How much better is combat because if its only a slight advantage i dont think its worth the boredom

Significantly better until enough crit to where SF is somewhat competitive. Once you get to Naxx, SF is competitive.

Play what you enjoy, ignore the meta. If you play a spec you don’t enjoy then you will end up not enjoying the game

Strongly agree. “Enough crit” or not, I also think Assassin/Sub is way more fun than combat and plays how I’d imagine a rogue playing. If you enjoy it, go for it. I recommend Assassination to start.

And im guessing assassination is significantly better for pvp?

Combat Sword Rogue for PvE, Combat Dagger Rogue for PvP.

Cold Blood gives them very high burst, yes. Subtlety is also quite necessary for PvP.

The problem is a lack of good daggers as well. Assassination in PvP doesn’t really play different than Combat Daggers, which is Backstab and keeping S&D up. Seal Fate lets them use more Eviscerates, but that’s about it - without high crit you won’t really see much different. But Combat Daggers will provide a lot more DPS than SF at early gear levels.

Essentially for the next year Combat will be the undisputed better DPS in pvp. As for PVP, I prefer an Assassin/Sub hybrid.

Here is a Sub/Sin hybrid which use both cold blood and prep.
