I finally got myself another 430 dagger, been wanting to off spec sin. Simple question, is snapshotting still a thing?
If you can find the three piece you need YES.
- De Lorean
- Flux Capacitor
- Power source capable of generating 1.21 Jiga-watts

No snapshotting was too hard so Blizzard removed it

Not a thing, your dots tick for what your current stats are. Dot something up, then get tons of procs, those dots do more damage while those procs are up. DoT something up while your procs are up, the DoT does more damage until the proc wear off then they drop down. It is all very fluid.
Some things to remember however is that there are talents that modify the damage of your dots as a state-based effect of when you cast them. Garrote empowered for subterfuge, for example, should never be overridden by non-empowered garrotes.
I’ll be the “ACKSHUALLY” guy. Feral druid still snapshots.
The only snap-shotted values now are subterfuged garrotes, and I think symbols of death + nightblade?

Well that’s not as much fun, I use to love those little expert level dps increases.

It’s a common Blizzard misconception that players hate what they aren’t skilled enough to fully utilize.
On the contrary, it gives us something aspire to.
It’s interesting to keep this in mind when you listen to Ion Hazzikostas’s relatively recent comments on ability pruning and abilities like Alter Time that weren’t used or appreciated by most players but shouldn’t have been removed.

Even subterfuged garrotes are still fluidly calculated during their duration by the rogues procs activating and fading. The only difference is the garrote itself getting buffed by being cast from stealth.

If you want to try something that is a ton of fun in random pvp run Exsanguinate and use it will full bleed durations (garrote, internal bleed, rupture) when they are at 40% or less health and bomb the hells out of them with envenoms. good times.
pretty much this your mastery effects your dot and bleed dps and your hastes effects tic speed.
If you want some semblance of snapshotting, play Feral, since it still has it to some degree with TF/BT/Incarn + Rake, though, you should hardly ever need to snapshot a Rip, beyond the initial application.
