Assa Rogue will continue to be the least played class in WoW even after rework

Without the ability to spread dots consistently or effectively, Assa rogues will continue to be the least fun and least played class in the game.

You can spread dots to multiple targets once every 60 seconds in shadow dance but your dots only last 18-36 seconds so in between shadow dance you need to spread them 1 tab target at a time. Oh but Garrote has a 9sec cooldown and rupture needs combo points so you cant even spread them that effectively even with tab targeting.

Also, its next to impossible to track which targets are losing garotte and rupture so be ready to spam tab while you frantically look for dropping dots. The top assa rogues describe this as “spinning plates”

Oh and while doing this, make sure you kick the prio target 1 shot ability or the group wipes and make sure you pay attention to avoid the one shot bomb mechanics on the ground

Basically, the spec is not fun and hectic to play with very little reward.

You can be outlaw and hit blade flurry every 45 sec be sub and spam storm and black powder for basically the same damage if not more

Have you , by any chance, looked at the changes assassination is getting in 10.2?

Final tuning is going to make or break the spec.

Are we even playing the same class? Carnage let’s us spread dots very effectively. New carnage is even better as a passive.

As far as tracking dot expiration, do you not use nameplates with a pandemic tracker and ghost auras? Do you not use Boss timers to track upcoming abilities? Do you not use GTFO or DBM, and do you not have Cloak on your bar?

Nothing you are complaining about is a problem. Sin rogues have problems;

  • losing MFD
  • very hit or miss damage tuning
  • breaking stealth

…but these things you have issue with are just baffling to me to be honest.

Side note, not sure where you are seeing we are least played. Bottom few rungs? Absolutely. But Idk about least. While that is a data driven question, “least fun,” is not and is highly subjective. If it’s not tuned to oblivion or currently struggling with giant bugs, it’s one of the most fun specs in the game imho.

That’s a skill issue.

How is this a spec issue Lol

Did you forget you can restealth in a dungeon. Also vanish exists. Garrote also has no cd coming out of stealth.

Rework have mostly fixed this issue. on paper at least we will have to see in practice.

NVM oh forgot retail is too complicated for you.

In terms of M+ we are by far the least played spec. You can see that on both Raiderio and WCL. We have been for a very long time. Even in Shadowlands we were bottom or right next to Aff Lock for bottom within 100’s.

For raid? Not bottom but not very far from it.

As for OP’s least fun comment, there I have to disagree. I enjoy it and I actually like that it’s not a popular spec. I like going against the meta and pushing as far as I can go.

After 3 months if Assassination rogues are still the least played spec in the game will you admit I’m right?

I’m not even talking about DPS numbers. I’m talking fun factor. Is the class fun to play?

What I described is the opposite of fun for 98% of players

Never, always will adapt to and make it work. You forgot about the tea build in your “rant”

that all depends on tuning on patch and the subsequent balance passes. Even if a class is badly designed for M+, if it does damage people will play it.

Assassination is also one of the highest boss damage specs on live right now, its not played more because most people are done with raiding till the new patch

Buff Sin rogues add MFD back and make deathmark undispellable in arenas class is fixed.

this is because they don’t even bother with adds
they just stay on boss, you can see it in the fact that they are at the bottom in Overall damage
whereas UH DK is top boss damage and top damage overall, or around.

Lets be real for a moment, this should be a buff on the rogue that affects all bleeds on everything not a single target debuff. This is a big reason why Assassination is bad in aoe (still) and M+ by extension also why in a Paladin/Priest arena meta the spec doesn’t exist.

I’m not attacking you personally but this spell would have been out of date in WOD. When they swapped Bandit’s Guile to the rogue for Combat it was for these exact reasons. DM and Vendetta before were implemented out of date.

FYI, this one advantage (single target performance) is likely gone with the 10.2 rework. Current simulations put Outlaw (along with Sub) as doing more damage than Assassination in all content, both in single target and AOE situations.

  • Outlaw outperforms Assassination by 35% in Dungeon Slice and by 6% on Single Target.
  • Sub outperforms Assassination by 11% in Dungeon Slice and by 3% in Single Target.

Sims could be wrong, or we could get a last minute balance adjustment, or fights might turn out to be particularly suited to Sin’s damage profile, but as it stands now, Sin’s prospects look a little worse than last patch.

Not every single class needs to be designed to perform amazing aoe. You’re suppose to assassinate single targets.

You misread my post. Assassination does the worst ST damage out of the three Rogue specs in 10.2 according to current sims.

You know what needs to be done then. Put the pirate hat on. Conform.

No it doesn’t. There’s also a difference between ST and Boss Damage

Spec feel so boring now, i enjoyed having to apply my dots, made the spec interactive, now you press 1 button to spread your bleeds on all the neaby mobs. They really are on a quest to make rogue one of the most braindead class. Will still experiment to see if I change my mind
