Why aspect of cheetah has a 3 min long cool down? It’s the longest cool down of hunter. All it does is a boost of speed.
Is there any reason for it to be this long?

I don’t think there is. If I were cynical, I’d say it allowed them to add in a couple CD reduction talents, or talents that from a design perspective probably require next to no thought (and manage to suck). Another thing, I’m not sure why there’s a drop off in speed after 3 seconds… nothing like a cheetah.
Last time they complain about that (in legion beta i think) devs response was it was too good and need to be bring in line with other classes dashes (rogue, druid), hence the big cooldown.
The 3min timer was built with Artifact cooldown reductions in mind and when they disabled that it stopped working well. Azerite traits and passive speed up while out of combat gave a bandaid fix but they still feel too slow to me.
TL DR: Because pvp
It’s kind of weird they would compare it to Sprint/Dash because it’s much closer to Travel Form for Druids and Shaman. Theirs is faster and doesn’t daze when hit, but they can’t attack in it and can’t use it indoors. Druids, however, also have a 30% permanent move speed buff in cat form as well as the additional 15% Ferals get. And Ferals can use all their attacks in that form. And it lasts indoors. And they don’t get dazed. And they also have Dash. Hmm.
I honestly think the Druid mobility kit is fine, they have their share of troubles too like any class, but I don’t see how old Cheetah was overpowered when a better version exists on a class with already more mobility options than Hunter and the 3 minute dash makes running anywhere you can’t use a mount so much more painful. At least it’s a reason to keep a Cunning pet in one of your active slots.
