I’m not sure if this conversation has been had or not, but I feel as though it should at least be brought up. I will be speaking as someone who engages with mythic + and pugs heroic raids. The type of player and content I choose to engage with at this point in my life is vastly different from 15 years ago when I started playing.
Mythic acquisition of crests feels very under whelming. When you complete a 10 keystone, you get the same exact amount of crests as you would for competing a 6. Yes I am aware the two items that drop go up in gear level. When you 3 chest a key, the key goes up, and that’s it. I play with people who still phrase it as 3 chesting because you used to get extra chests for making good time. Again, back to my consumption of the content, I usually don’t do keys over 10. There is no reward I wish to pursue for doing keys over 10 outside of rating and bragging rights.
On that, when you complete a 10 with the added difficulty of the affixes, you get 12 crests. An upgrade to the gear you would likely want to upgrade is 15. So you spend 25-40 minutes engaged in 1 type of content, and will not even walk away with an upgrade.
It would be great that if just spent 35 minutes or more playing something, I walk away with at least an upgrade. I think the minimum crests you get for completing a keystone should be 15 (or 1 upgrade level to a piece of gear). Another suggestion I would like to make is bring back 3 chesting. When you 3 chest a key, maybe for each level over time you get a few extra crests for each (chest) over time you finished. Or another piece of bonus gear, something to encourage making better time.
Only an idea I’ve been kicking around with my friends, so feel free to troll or tear my dumb idea apart.
