Did he quit until Shadow Lands or is he still around? He certainly made a fortune off of classic. His fans/guildies seem to have their loot/entertainment value. Are the majority of streamers and the streamer culture (speed runs and free stuff) over?
If this is true and they fix AV I might come back and reroll soon…

i think this is the part where all the edgelords come out and pretend like they’ve never been a fan of anyone for anything in the history of ever.
he still plays path of exile from when i see him but i’m not subbed to him so if he’s made any real comments on wow i havent heard anything yet.

Asmongold was an anomoly. The majority of streamers who stream classic are pserver players that do it because they love the game. They dont even make any money or care about that.

I would bet he still plays, and will be back for BWL because its fresh content to play/stream.
But I don’t play on faerlina, so I don’t care.

He probably already has enough money to last him a few lifetimes, so he doesn’t care about streaming if he doesn’t feel like it.

Gangly millionaire streamer with like 50k subscribers kind of like jack septiceye, but without the irish accent or green hair. I don’t follow him either, but a guildie died laughing about his attempt to get his name reserved back during classic name reservation time and I went to see that video.
Asmongold made a show of trying to reserve his name and acting upset about not getting it because he paused to change the face (like many of us were doing at name reservation time). After a few minutes of not getting his name on other servers he went with Asmonrawr in frustration. Then after some more acting drama, he got a sly look as his followers began checking in to let him know they secured his name for him. After he confirmed his name was secured everywhere, he cussed out the reddit haters who’d been plotting to get his name and squat on it, pissed on them and did a happy dance. (The toons he mains are actually more generic less obvious things though, because there were entire guilds planning to stalk and kill him everywhere too. I think they still tried by watching his live streams and tracking him down though.)
Still don’t follow him and haven’t seen any of his videos in awhile, but I did go ahead and look at a few others where he ran duels or arenas and things. There’s a bit of educational value to hearing someone decently skilled narrate what’s happening or should’ve happened in a pvp fight.
He has so many followers, that thousands of dollars just rain on him every time he or his sidekick make a face. But he is a highly competent player and sociable fellow. (Says a guy who honestly doesn’t follow anyone. I subscribed to like craneus and sharm and someone else like that for their music videos.
My kid follows a bunch of youtubers and I glean a lot from passing by him on his computer though.)
Good riddance, streamers touting how awesome PVP would be created issues. Then he took his cash and vanished, leaving to players to deal with it. I feel bad for everyone that followed his advice and ended up on a server they hate.
Did the guy do anything that actually helped the game?

Maybe total noobs learn a bit about pvp watching his pvp videos, but I think he’s in line with just about any youtuber who’s main value is just some kind of entertainment. Like talk shows and comedians or whatever. Possibly athletes if they’re doing anything skill-based.

I don’t follow the twitterers so I don’t believe I’ve ever seen him before. Glad to amuse you!

Least he earned it honestly, which is a lot better than the way many people with such things come by them.

Flagged for advertising and naming players.

He did pretty much everything progression related and left bored. He mostly plays PoE.
Yeah. He helped increase viewership and subscribers which in turn made Blizzard money.

He’s sitting on a big pile of money. Might as well enjoy it.
Over on the Overwatch forums they call this report brigading and you will get suspended for it. I wish they would adopt that policy over here.

So be it. As long as threads like this stop getting made.
