have seen ppl in youtube using xbox controller in WoW , they are using 3rd party keyboard mapper to emulate keypress from controller input.
question :
-
is there any ban incident of ppl using controller mapper software ? will blizz detect controller to keyboard input as macroing or against ToS ?
-
Anyone who use controllet in WoW, whats your opinion ? positives and negatives opinion welcome
-
anyone who use Steam Controller can comment on how steam controller perform compared to traditional xbox style buttons
thankx
I don’t think it is against the ToS. As long as gameplay is not automated there is no problems. I think a controller emulating key presses would be similar to a disable person using foot pedals or head switches.
I did play with a Xbox One controller on retail from 1-45 or so as a warrior. Made the game feel and play like an action RPG for the most part. I quit playing because I got bored as retail is not fun to level.
You may have issues as a caster with the multiple rank spells. If you are just grinding you will probably do OK, but I would never attempt to heal or do AOE blizzard grinding with a controller. Too much room for error. Melee classes are probably fine. You could probably get good with a caster but it will take practice to figure out the best keymap for your rotation.
It is not bannable for any reason
to me, it would be kind of limiting though.
I have a flighsim HOTAS i could use but Gah! that would be too nutty
I have created a FEW macros, using Autohotkey. Each macro replaces ONE mouseclick with ONE keyboard press. If I want to buy 50 stacks of 1, I have to press a key 50 times. To me that’s better than 50 mouse clicks.
I could probably create Autohotkey macros that did several mouseclicks for each key that I press. But I don’t. I won’t risk breaking the rules.
I’m sure you are okay using a controller, as long as you have to do 1 action for each input. Blizzard even lets you use the mouse scroll as a “key” and map it to some input action.
