Ashvanes Razor Coral - DPS Trinket

Hey guys,

As the topic states the Ashvanes Razor Coral trinket.
Now this is a very desirable trinket for warriors at the moment and i just recently received my 430 from heroic.

But i would like to know, what is the best way to utilize this trinket to get the most output?

Any suggestions on what i should time it with or when to proc it?

Running :
Major - Lucid Dreams Rank 3
Minor - Focusing Iris Rank 2

Below is a pinned message on the warrior discord by lead fury theorycrafter Archimtiros:

Ashvane’s Razor Coral

  • Extract the crit buff either with your Essence (Lucid, Blood of the Enemy, Condensed Life-Force) or right before Dribbling Inkpod explodes.

Vision of Demise

  • Use on cooldown, can be delayed slightly for better health thresholds, or used on low health adds before they die.

Font of Power

  • Channel pre-pull, and then use on cooldown.

Lurker’s Insidious Gift

  • Use on cooldown/with Lucid as normal.

Phial of Arcane Tempest

  • Is passive, but can be ramped while hitting one target, and then moved in to hit multiple others faster.

Cyclotronic and other direct damage trinkets

  • Use on cooldown outside of Reck/Siegebreaker.

Ashvane’s Razor Coral

  • Extract the crit buff either with your Essence (Lucid, Blood of the Enemy, Condensed Life-Force) or right before Dribbling Inkpod explodes.

So on the opener use Lucid dreams for instance - 3 min CD/cast trinket. After lucid dreams comes off CD - pop lucid and extract trinket .

Am i understanding this correctly?

That’s correct. Does the trinket have a gcd? You can probably macro them together.

Just a 20 sec cd because of the reset.

#showtooltip
/castsequence Memory of Lucid Dreams, Ashvane’s Razor Coral

This could work.

I don’t think you’d need a cast sequence. If the trinker is off the gcd you can just use /cast and both should go off simultaneously. Unless you’re trying to make it go off after lucid’s gcd is over I guess. Answered my own question.

yeah unfortunately the on use trinkets are on the GCD with everything else… :persevere:
so have to do it.

This trinket in particular is not on the GCD. I have mine macrod with no issue.

The on-use trinkets are not on the GCD. I have Recklessness macroed with Lurker’s Insidious Gift, both on a “/cast” command, and both go at the same time when I use the macro.

Pro tip: instead of cast use

/use 13
/use 14

As those are the trinket slots. I don’t think cast works with the slot numbers (so I assume you have the exact trinket name in macro), but could be wrong. Really nice so you don’t have to update macros if you switch to a different on use trinket

Not to Necro this thread, but I just got this and I have two questions:

  1. Why wouldn’t you extract the coral during recklessness? This coincides perfectly with condensed life force which, for single Target dps, is the best for Fury warriors from what I’ve researched.

  2. Doesn’t the stacking buff have a 2 minute window to add stacks? Or is the two minute window how long it stays on your main Target you initiated it on before it drops off on it’s own if you don’t add another stack in that timeframe (i.e. dps another Target for over 2 min)?

Bonus question: This can only be applied to one Target at a time, correct?

  1. You would extract it with CLF. If you don’t have a few of the select essences, you would also use it with Reck. Otherwise use it with the above essences.

  2. I’m not sure about that.

Bonus: Yes.

So basically,

Proc before the fight starts, pop reck/CLF, extract when reck becomes avail, extract again with CLF, rinse and repeat until right before inkpod pops and extract then, and continue to rinse and repeat after as necessary, yes?

Mmm I don’t have Inkpod yet so you might wanna confirm with someone else. But you want enough stacks from coil to more or less guarantee a crit from Inkpod. As it stands with current boss fight lengths, if you pop coil once already for CLF you’ll only have probably 10-25 stacks of it depending on the boss when Inkpod procs.

So with that being said, I would personally hold onto the stacks until Inkpod is about to proc, and also if possible try to time razorcoil to also partially coincide with another cooldown if one comes up close to the Inkpod proc. This would also allow you to get some decent stacks for the final burn on a boss.

Also as far as question number 2, coil stacks indefinitely, the timer on the Debuff is just how much time you have to apply another stack or else it’ll fall off.

just an fyi, if you run with it during m+, use it on trash. Even if something dies before its back off cd, you get the crit buff. Kelade showed this in a youtube video he did recently, and I’d recommend checking out his other stuff from time to time.

tbh i wonder if its even worth using over another generic dps trinket in M+ though, since you cant really build a huge stack, has anyone mathed it out? is it worth?

Ok the 2 min is how long it takes to fall off if you aren’t attacking the target . The timer refreshes when you’re attacking it . So you can safely switch to adds and back .

You will use it at the start of the fight and then trigger it with your essence major big dps window .

If you have the inkpod trinket you hold it till the taget is at 32%

For mythics you can use it on trash and just let the mobs death trigger the crit it wont trigger the cd on the trinket that way so if you’re good you can keep up a crit buff alot . I find it to be tedious and pick my big versatility on use trinket that lines up with recklessness / BotE window

Don’t do this, there is a reason Kelade is banned from the warrior discord, don’t support hid plagerism, deceit and overall scummy actions.

If you are using CLF, extract it with that and not Reck. Also, what the individual below said. Make sure to have a decent amount of stacks before Inkpod pops as you WANT this to crit.

What did he do?

Or is it just discord drama?
