Not possible with the systems in the game they are implementing.
I donāt think itās in the same realm as Wildstar was, that game came out of the box pretty much advertising itself as a hardcore-only MMO, Steven has made it pretty apparent that heās not only catering to one crowd but having content that where everyone is able to make progress. Itās kind of hard to come up with brand new systems that other MMOās havenāt attempted at this point, thereās no need to re-invent the wheel and itās pretty clear heās aware of this.
Iām still on the side of cautiously optimistic only because heās the one funding literally the entire game, thatās a lot of money to spend on something if you arenāt sure that youād be able to tackle everything in your scope of the game, Iām pretty confident that heās not going to waste millions of dollars falling into the same traps that most other MMOās do, he has way too much riding on it for it to fail.
Iām not saying that it wonāt go south just that he doesnāt have to deal with higher ups or shareholders dictating the direction of the game and when you combine it with how passionate and transparent heās being on top of being a MMO veteran, I happen to be slightly more optimistic than I would be over some random no-name company. As heās mentioned before we will just have to wait and see, time will tell.
I think it is vaporware until they announce a Public Beta. Beware of MMOās announced early in development, especially those that have an online shop for donations. Pantheon was announced over five years ago and they still havenāt come out of pre-alpha.
It looks promising and Iām excited to try it. My only trepidation comes from the fighting system. Not enough information on how thatās going to work yet. Itās a 75/25 split between tab targeting and the other thing (canāt remember what itās called, but looks similar to combat in FFXV). Balancing that is going to be a challenge.
The most important thing in any game for me is how combat feels. Itās gotta feel good to fight and use my abilities. So far, not enough info on that. Iām keeping an eye on it, though
I have not heard a lot about it. I kind of question this, for lack of
a better term, player driven political system that I heard talked
about in a video I watched. That right there tells me that a group
of players will try to dominate, and block anyone else from
reaching anywhere near them in the system. I dont know how
it works right now. So I could be misunderstanding.
Then there is the one thing that made sure I will never touch this
game. Forced PVP.
There is also the money it will cost to run it. The head guy payed for it
with his own money. But if it gets to the point of not gaining
enough players. Or losing too many players. Is he going to pay
the money to keep the game going as well? I dont know how
much it would cost. But back in Wrath. I read a article that said
Blizzard pays over 100k a day just to keep servers up and running.
It does everything well, except for the death penalty, and that they allow greifing to happen in every way. You get killed in the world while gathering or killing mobs? your mats and mob trash can be looted your corpse (a percentage of it), while the curruption system is meant to prevent it, it is deactivated if you try to defend yourself.
Your node that you home is at getās successfully seiged? Say good bye to your bank stuff and what ever you had in your player house, let alone you lose your house too, which can happen when your offline even!
The death penalty also lowers your stats and skill effectiveness if you die too much, including in pvp, which the game heavily is baised around with the economy and your living space.
If you want to transport your goods in a effective way you have to do with there caravan systemā¦ which is also pvp related, and can get robbed.
I like there idea of conquest and taking land, there class system and how dungeons open up baised on land population and levels, but letting players steal from each other is a big no-no.
Edit: Tried talking about it on there forums. I thought these forums was toxic sheesh, the ones over there is worse!
To add, the advertisements does not advertise the possible greifing, you would have to look on theyāre wiki for that info. They got allot of backers that got trapped by the ads without knowing about the grief system.
