Ashes of Creation. The next WoW killer

It reminds me of Star Wars Galaxies. I want a game with skill points and professions/classes to pick and choose and mix anything

Im tired of the linear class designs I want that very old school skill point system

SWG had 32 professions and 250 skill points

Awesome and good fun times back then with complete player control and immersive feeling in sandbox worlds in star wars universe, like 9 planets. I was like 12 so that game was magical to me. Good times forever. Modern day digital memories lol 1st world problems

Sounds like some fever dream based on Ultima Online before you could “save” things.

Looks like every other recent mmo.

Generic.

I’d believe it.

Imagine that MMO with the budget of Blizzard.

Imagine that fantastic game, free from the influence of stay at home mommies collecting battle pets, rich in lore, PVP, and grimdark goodness.

No crying anduins, only sigmars hammer.

No crying Baines, only manflesh.

I still play it sometimes.

In order for there to be a next wow killer, there would have had to be a last WoW killer.

In order for there to have been a last WoW killer, WoW would have to be dead.

Since WoW is very much not dead, anything that does kill WoW will have been the first and only WoW killer.

Same, its still holding up even with the terrible EU server and bugs.

The pvp is just wonderful.

Then you don’t have to run for mayor. You’re not being forced to. So you’re complaining about an issue that isn’t even an issue

Looks good, however, I don’t need another subscription in my life. Amazon, Hulu, Netflix, game pass, wow, etc. There are so many out there. I wouldn’t be surprised people wonder where their money went. I’d rather buy the game like ESO, where you have the option to sub with perks.

Everything is a “Wow killer”. Then it releases with tons of stuff missing and broken promises.

I know we’re all just memeing in here, but WoW has a really strong pve core which I can’t see AoC matching. Most of the stuff in AoC revolves around pvp, even what raids are up depends on it. Your house getting destroyed because someone sacked your city while you were on hiatus sounds awful, and 10 people in the world having the godly ability to fly seems extremely unbalanced. Wanting an economy based node when the rest of your friends want science and another guild wants something else entirely will likely lead to a lot of arguements.

AoC seems like a game Classic players would enjoy more than retail ones. Still I hope the game does well, and I will certainly try it when it releases.

another quality vanillanoob post. you need some frenz boi

Why is it so hard for new mmos to come up with some unique races?

Getting tired of humans, dwarfs, orcs and elves…

Someone needs to make a game with some really out there ideas.

I think it’s the ESO killer more than anything else. If they can achieve the server stability that they claim ESO is toast.

Well in the end…everything is derived from Tolkien’s universe.

Lmao. I feel like getting your city sacked should be an awful thing. Am I wrong?

Maybe you should defend your city rather than being on hiatus.

I appreciate some vanilla as much as the next person but we really need some fresh takes.

Oh. Wow.

Ashes of Creation fills a different niche than WoW does. The type of game that it is is interesting! But it’s also not what WoW has. If I want high quality raids, it doesn’t look like Ashes of Creation has that. However, if I want an open world where I can be a shop owner that makes things for people out of the back of a caravan, I can do that. So it really depends on what people want to do.

Side note: games can coexist. One does not have to kill the other.

Basically this. Until the game is out and maintains a strong community for longer than a couple of years… this is all just wishful thinking. I’ll admit, a lot of it looks cool, but will it actually work out as the dev’s envision it?

For that we’ll just have to wait and see.
