Ashenvale is terrible - feedback

I really enjoy the new PvE content from raids to runes but my god has the PvP content in this game just makes me want to not play. I could understand having some balance issues with classes and working out those kinks but god damn Ashenvale is just bad, in design and execution.

The great part about world PvP is that it happened organically. Now, the entire zone is an incentivized warzone and completing any quest there in typical leveling is excruciatingly painful because you are a resource to start the event. I died 6 times going from Splintertree to Tideress and this wasn’t even during the event. Just camped by multiple lvl 25 rogues or random packs of people farming % to start the event.

I spent nearly one hour corpse running because there are two spirit healers in a zone you changed to cause death in mass but yet couldn’t think to maybe give more spirit healers.

Then you have the bugs, boss imbalance, lag, and overall just poor execution of the event has made this a massive stain on my enjoyment. Most folks I have talked to dislike it as well. On my max toon its alright, it doesn’t feel like PvP. Just feels like a dumb PvE event with some 80v80 lame aoe fests. It completely undermines WSG rep as well and replaces the best way to get rep from pretty much a PvE / AV-esque event.

I really hope going forward the next zones can not incentivize killing lowbies to start the event, added spirit healers to reduce corpse walking time, and better execution.

The PvP content in wow is laughable, but even by Blizzards incredibly low standards (in this regard) the Ashenvale “event” is abysmal. It is so biased in alliance favor as to be virtually unwinnable by the horde. I’m not going to go into the details as they have been laid out a thousand times and blizzard have done what they usually do to address the faction imbalance - ZERO.

If you think this way and play Horde, then it seems that you are trolling yourself. I sincerely hope you play Alliance, or reroll Alliance if this is indeed something you believe.

yeah I mean i dont really think the imbalance between horde or alliance is that noticeable if any at all. but man the zone just sucks, just tryna get my warsong boots on an alt and getting murder by 25s in BFD gear is exhausting.

Man, those are some nice boots, btw! Good luck out there!

I’m not sure if your being serious or not?!?!?! I’ve got 100% victory in Ashenvale. Never lost a SINGLE one on both of my characters. Alliance controls Ashenvale and it’s not even close.

Of course I’m being serious. People are always posting about how [insert-faction/class/spec-here] has an advantage.

What I am saying is that anyone who believes [insert-faction/class/spec-here] does indeed have that advantage and they are not playing that, but for some reason feel they are being negatively impacted by it, they are trolling themselves.

WoW has always had terrible “WPvP”. They should take a lesson from Archeage if they want to know how to make good WPvP content. The Abyssal Attack event in that game is probably the greatest WPvP content I have ever participated in. Mistmerrow was also good, though it needed tweaking as the last few minutes was the only part that really mattered.

The biggest difference is that the PvP mattered in those events. PvP doesn’t matter in Ashenvale, it’s a PvE rush.

Well it’s obvious why it’s not good

WoW has over 20 years of experience in making good raid encounters

However they basically gave up on world pvp after wintergrasp in wotk

We should be happy that they are trying to innovate while trying new things.

They might just get it right the next time.

WoW is a Fantasy Role Playing Game. Fantasy is by definition an escape from reality. I don’t play wow to “win”, I play it to escape from reality. Speaking personally I have no interest at all in playing one of the pretty races, I choose to play something entirely different. That said, the faction playfield should be level, but it just is not. This isn’t about a class power issue - it is about one faction being constantly disadvantaged throughout the game. From quest rewards, to gathering nodes, to available recipes, to world and instanced PvP - the pretty faction is ALWAYS favored by the developers. That says something rather sad about the developers.

And which faction is that? Of course the one you don’t play would be my guess.

People claim this all the time, about either faction. It’s not like we are on a forum full of people new to the game. The assumption is that we have all played for year and year, on both side of the fence.
