As we near the end of DF, its biggest fail was group loot in LFR

Just read a Reddit post on r/wow showing an unlikely player winning 4 items off a single boss. This never could have happened with personal loot and completely contradicts the devs stance on it ‘being the same thing as personal loot, only everyone can see the rolls now.’

Please consider going back to personal loot in LFR for the next expansion. Thank you.

And? its possible people in that lfr run had those items, and very few leather users, fist weapons are useable by very few classes, until you actually see the make up off the actual group, that image and rolls mean nothing

I fail to see the problem

It’s one of the advantages/disadvantages of GL. Unlike PL which took armor type into account before dropping gear, GL doesn’t. It ignores it completely. So it is possible that there weren’t many of that class type in that raid (unlikely on average) that allowed them to need on a lot of gear that other classes couldn’t. It could also be some people passed on gear. Or it could be the RNG Gods playing with us like dice like they like to do.

So depending on which scenario occured, you could see it a number of different ways. But yes, it is true that PL would have probably dropped more relevant gear assuming the other players in the raid actually needed something off that boss.

PL was a failure all around. Add a toggle for PL for the ones that want it.

So? It’s a one in a huge chance happening.

Just like when people got mad that they didn’t get anything the whole run but someone else got something from every boss.

I wish people would learn why PL was removed and why it’s not coming back.

Personal loot for raids isn’t going to come back, simply because of how easy it was to cook the books and dictate what dropped.

LFR boss dies.
GD to every player in the raid:

I would think that’s it’s okay how it is, but they could add in a layer of extra protection in there like bad luck protection at completion of the LFR wing. Or just like a chest to open that u get from completion.

I only think this because it would be for players who have LFR as their end game raiding content. Others have an advantage when they clear other levels of difficulty of the raid so you get multiple turns at it.

The loot that drops in LFR isn’t very comparable to other difficulties either. It’s not hurting much to add bad luck protection to it.

Right now I guess the only upside to it if you don’t win anything at all is that it adds something to the vault.

Maybe there are better options out there I dunno. The way it was before where you just got the loot wasn’t that great either imo. Lol

What if it was just lfr?

Or are mythic guilds running lfr as a full stack? (I did see my guild do this I think)

I tried final wing of lfr this week and the second last boss dropped 4 hunter bows.

We only had one hunter lol

And that advantage is M+.

Raid (any difficulty) just drops too few items. For completing a 2 boss LFR wing (3/4 of the wings in amirdrassil) minimum 60% of the raid gets no items, as that would only drop 10 items for the whole 25 player party. PL doesn’t change that, and it’s why BLP doesn’t really work for LFR direct drops.

change nothing, but double the amount of loot LFR gives and suddenly 90% of these complaints go away, since the real root cause is OP not getting what they wanted.

Not just Mythic; Heroic guilds will do it too, and probably some Normal guilds.

Personal loot did just the opposite. We killed The Nine in Sanctum of Domination multiple times a week (on different difficulties) every week the entire season. The polearm dropped ONCE because only 2 people had it on their loot tables. Meanwhile, we got multiples of the same worthless ring week after week after week, because it was on everyone’s loot tables.

But that’s what Personal Loot did: An endless string of rings, necks, and cloaks. But never the weapons or shields that some specs needed.

Personally I think their biggest fail was forgetting Vak’thros exists.

Yup, it is indeed Sunday night.

Sounds like group loot but with increased raid drops at every level is the best way then

They need to double the drop rate of raid loot just to bring it on par per-person with 5-mans.

And that doesn’t even address the weekly lockout, which is another thing that needs to be fixed.

Raiding is woefully over-difficult, over-complicated, over-tedious, and under-rewarding. But Blizzard is too busy ladling more and more lard into the M+ trough to do anything about it.

The biggest failure of DF was how much time is needed to invest in the new profession system.

Congratulations to that player.

Nope. It doesn’t contradict it because group loot how it works in the game right now is exactly like old Personal Loot but you have the possibility to win more than just one piece. Which is the same as before except we don’t need an additional currency in order to do so now.

Why would they change it back to personal loot? Nothing of what you have said here, and the same thing for basically every other thread like this, has any relevance or is even based in reality most of the time.

“Change it back to personal loot because getting more loot is a worse experience overall”. If you got 4 pieces of loot from every boss, then I’d agree. As it stands, variance and as a direct result, no. This isn’t a real criticism of group loot. One can argue it is a criticism of RNG and raid loot, but neither one of those subjects would be in your favour considering you are arguing for players to receive, overall, less loot when it is still within a reasonable degree of variance for our characters’ overall progression.

Personally I feel like the ‘Vault’ system they have, if the raid-category is all composed of LFR rewards to pick from — They should be granted the opportunity to grab two rewards (or all three) - instead of just one, and potentially even be separate from other vault select rewards (such as M+ or PvP).

I mean it’s just for LFR in the raid category, and heck just heroic-dungeons in the dungeon category too — I don’t see much harm in it. Especially considering LFR & heroic dungeons is typically used to grapple equipment for your character to push forward so they can do higher content …

The RNG win system, whether its personal loot or group loot can only get one so far - and for many, not even there due to not having great rolls or having someone snipe it from under them (in some cases, even if they still have better gear!) having higher rewards from just pushing through the bosses of LFR would be ideal –

  • A: If it’s LFR or heroic dungeons, their IL can only go so high.
  • B: They put in the time to blaze through LFR (which can be painful).
  • C: It allows players to not rely on singular week-to-week vault grabs to slowly gear their characters up if they don’t have a guild, or can’t get into groups til they reach a certain IL.

For the ‘bottom of the barrel’ content, granting further guaranteed rewards at the end of the week than just singular — It’d be beneficial for the community overall & also make gearing alts a whole lot easier.

Personal loot is the only appropriate loot type for random groups. Group loot has failed twice now in LFR. You sound like someone who is personally profiting from holding gear for ransom to sell to new players and alts.

The biggest fail was hinting at Deathwing and Galakrond but nothing coming of it. Echo of Neltharion doesn’t count.

Also making Neltharion look like a turd burglar in both his human and dragon NPC forms.
