As ret do you have trouble getting into mythic+?

So as a ret paladin do you have trouble getting accepted for mythic +?

The thing you have to understand is, like 30 dps instantly apply to mythic plus groups. So unless your Uber geared, ret isn’t going to stand out.

I feel like on my mage and rogue I get invites easily, but my ww monk who outgears them all I have to make my own groups or go MW.

That being said rets are perfectly fine and can pump damage in stuff outside the highest of keys. I don’t feel like their utility is appreciated though with BoP, solid off heals for things like bursting, cleanse, freedom, bubble, LoH, stun that doesn’t cost dps like kidney shot etc.

100% agree with this, people also have this instinct of only taking the dps most commonly used at like the MDI level for like +10’s which sucks. Every class is viable, just a lot of different factors go into people making groups.

I find it hard to get in as ret. So, I normally just tank or heal.

What’s weird is when Limit gotten world first N’zoth, they had a ret paladin in their group

Thought the average recruiter would think to grab one or two.

Ret’s have a pretty bad reputation for being low DPS, in fact according to overall data on warcraft logs pallies are the worst performing dps class (i.e. every class at at least 1 spec that performs better). Sometimes I have to resort to tanking to get some keys in.

That being said even while tanking I notice a high number of terrible Rets that just cant keep up with the other classes… and every single time they seem to lack the elements needed to perform well.

#1. You need vision of perfection
#2. You need at least 1 azerite trait of Empyrean Power
#3. You should be taking Divine Purpose over Inquisition
#4. Enchant and gem your gear you cheap f___ks

Until you’re seeing all the streamers and the MDI teams using Ret paladins, you’re going to have a hard time. As some have said before, lots of DPS queue at one time, and unfortunately not being “meta” is going to handicap your score by ~2-300 points.

It’s frustrating, but it’s reality. It ends up being a bit of an ironic situation in that a majority of these people who pick meta classes get into groups a lot easier and get their io boosted a lot easier, whereas the off-meta classes have to fight tooth and claw to get the scores they have. Personally, I see a 2k Ret Paladin as superior to a 2k DH, but that’s just me.

Ret Paladins are still very strong, don’t give up!

As a healer I’ll always take a ret to m+. Word of glory is huge specially with certain affix.

That said if I’m making a group myself I can always be patient with dps and take someone that’s above the needed ilvl. The time it takes to find a tank is much worse than finding a few over geared dps to carry.

Haha the thing though method Na and some others did use a ret in the keystone master taunament a few weeks back. People seem to have forgotten that already.
In an earlier season method eu won a map with blood dk, disc priest, rogue, double Hunter.

People just don’t seem to understand they can do keys without the fotm meta.

I never take melee and especially not Ret paladins when I make keys. This is because it is easier to mindlessly faceroll 15s (and 10s last season) as a tank without even looking at positioning with melee. Many other lazy tanks care nothing at all for metas or anything but their own personal preferences.

I say especially not Ret because my main is Ret and every Ret paladin knows every other Ret paladin in the game is awful.

Yes. Very much so. and I have a few legendary parses, 1400 IO, and 472 ilvl. Still can’t get into good keys.

This is incorrect. Crusade is the current meta for pve meta. Emp power you should take one, triple lights decree ideally and double avenging might.

Dont do that, ret paly and warlocks is hardest invitaded ever, i ret paly and wait 4 a 6 hour for invited pugs keys.

I’m 2100 Io as Ret and I still have issues getting into groups, I have to message the person telling them I’m not trash and that I pump and more often then not I’m topping dps charts while doing a solid amount of off healing.

Ret is super underrated and playing a ret is a thankless job, it makes my head hurt thinking of the number of times I have saved a group from a wipe with a quick WoG or a LoH, a BoP on a healer (or even a dps to take the pressure off the healer) a stun that that’s not looked at.

You have to work harder as a Ret to “prove” yourself and I have never seen the same thing happen to a rogue, Dh, unholy or Warrior and it annoys me like nothing else, why do I just because I am a Ret have to work so much harder and “prove” myself?

You would think Blizz would take a note from RaiderIO crap see that Mage/ Rogue/ Demon hunter are played more…Try to improve other classes… But people have to sit here and get nice corruptions just to pump.

If its not the other hundred dps trying to join , its the stigma that some classes just do poor dps.

Some classes even have great damage and utility for M+; it’s just that other classes have had mandatory utility for them while doing comparable or sometimes better damage.

Ret does big burst, which is good for M+, and has several party-usable “oh no” buttons which is unique for a DPS. And that’s awesome!

But Unholy has broken AoE damage on big pulls. And battle rez, which is considered mandatory utility. Same with Outlaw and Shroud of Concealment.

Right there is 2/3 of your DPS slots for a M+, occupied by mandatory specs. One of them is even a plate melee; Ret’s role.

If unbalanceable skills like those were addressed, specs like Ret would be highly desirable. Especially in the new expansion, where things like BoSac are coming back baseline.

Well I don’t know much about outlaw or unholy (literally only 2 of 3 classes I don’t have capped) but I got to imagine the target cap will hit them pretty hard

Yeah while ret isn’t bad in any form of content rn, there is a very frequent belief that ret is bad. Part of it is because there are a good number of Rets that are actually awful so it makes people think ret is really bad. Usually to play at a slightly higher level you have to be playing much better than others for them to even think of not thinking ret is bad.

Agreed, there doesn’t seem to be a happy medium, you’re really good or really bad. though this could be said truly about a lot of classes/players.

Yeah just really stands out with ret. There is very little “mediocre” Rets. For example every single ret who has gotten a rank 1 glad title is really really good, whereas there are rogues who have gotten the title and are very mediocre.
