As much as I love it, transmog hurt this game a lot

Hear me out.

I love collecting things, transmog being my most favorite.

Thing is, to me at least, it ruined the value of loot in the games core progression system. I no longer feel excited to wear a piece of loot because of its wow factor, its strictly a player power thing now that diminishes every patch.

I dont think there was really any items I ever was excited to wear cuz of the “wow factor”

Normally just sad cuz now my outfit is worse

This sounds less like a problem with transmogging, and more of a problem with lazy recolors upon recolors of models instead of unique ones.

Times change.

I look back at old screenshots and current classic footage and that feeling is gone for “OMG look at those shoulders”

Times changed. Now it’s farm old looks, collect them in current through progression and throw together some looks from different pieces. Also for bonus points get it to theme with the mount.

It may hurt the game for you, but I doubt it hurts the game for most players. I generally don’t mog very much at the start of an expansion to get feel for the gear designs. Its a choice. Whybwould you mog something if you want others to notice it.

It really didn’t. I know very few people who ever cared about who was wearing what piece of skittles gear or full set. Even back in Vanilla, BC and Wrath, I didn’t know anyone across my servers who thought standing around in full tier made them cool.

What makes you and your guild cool? That sense of accomplishment that you beat that raid together as a group.

What hurts this game is the fact that it sucks.

That has more to do with Blizzard screwing up the value of an Epic (And now Legendary) items by making them extremely common.

Honestly, “the value of loot” is the most overrated BS idea that has ever existed in this game. It’s also just a complete fallacy based on the idea that “one time the loot was prestigious”… you can literally just look at classic and see how untrue that is. Loot being prestigious is not the fun part of the game, the sense of progression is what’s fun about it. This is why players like transmog so much in the first place. To be honest, I feel like the game over-values loot now. There always has to be some timegate, some rating system, or some rng to throttle you. Great job, loot is scarce now, but the game is also boring af.

Looking good was never an issue. You kept a bag for extra outfits. The reason trasmog happened was because people cried they ran out of space in their bags/banks for clothing. That kind of spoiled mentality of ‘gotta have it all at your fingertips instant gratification.’

Oh and if you thought Blizz wanted to? Heck no they never intended for you to have transmog but Rift offered it as a feature when the bag space crying was high and it forced Blizz to add it.

I like looking good, not looking like I stepped off a circus train.

People still feel excited about gear because high-end gear is more powerful but not because it’s beautiful (maybe some mythic gear).

But, usually raid gear is ugly as hell, if you remove transmorg I still won’t feel excited about it, you know because It’s ugly.

Sorry, but when almost every other MMO has an outfit system and the most popular one doesn’t, this has zero to do with whatever bs you just made up.

Outfits are part of roleplaying games. And that’s why MMORPGs have outfit systems. There should have been one way before it was finally implemented.

how else would i hide my clothes

I think you feel this way because the armor design / skins are not as good as others from the past.

If they actually made gear look awesome (aka mail armor this tier) then people would still feel great about equipping. However many look awful so most people just mog over them. Obviously subjective, but I have a hard time with some covenant sets (NF leather for example) - just looks awful and cheap with no creativity.

It hurts the game as much as it hurts me what brand of bread you bought at the store last.

IE: not at all.

It’s a forum, sir. I’m far from triggered. There’s no reason to be upset over a gaming forum post. I’m blunt, not emotional.

I remember my MMO history just fine, thanks. I also remember RPGs and the emphasis on cool looking gear. Or are you attempting to ignore an entire RPG that focused almost exclusively on outfits?

I’m not taking anything out on anyone. You made a post that was nonsensical and got called on it. You can stop pretending to be a victim now.

Maybe you don’t feel excited anymore because they literally only make gear sets for each armor type as opposed to the class sets we used to get.
