I’ve been healing a lot on my Holy Priest and enjoying it. I mainly heal using the “heal” spell. I of course use renew and mending and that one that hits everyone and all that… but mostly I use HEAL as the standard click.
I have just started to look into what legendary I would like to get and noticed there is one for flash heal. " [Flash Concentration]
(Each time you cast Flash Heal, Heal has its casting time reduced by 0.2 sec and healing increased by 3% for 20 sec, stacking up to 5 times. )
This basically seems to me like the thing to do is use flash heal a lot more than I am…
So I was wondering, I sometimes think heal *is a little slow, so should I be using flash a lot more. At the mo I am basically only using it during dire low health emergencies and when the insta-flash-heal aura pops up.
Also, with that legendary should I be using a macro…

Do not use that macro.
You will make that legendary “Flash Concentration” and it will be your best friend probably through all expansion.
You will still be a “Heal” spam bot with it. You will cast 5 Flash heals to get 5 stacks of Flash concentration and after that you will work on not losing your 5 stacks ever. To do that you will use Flash heal once just to refresh the buff.
You’ll only use Flash heal for that, ideally you won’t use it for anything else ever.
Right… so I am basically already healing the correct way,… with intermittent use of flash heal.
This one has 20sec… so dose that mean you need to cash flash heal once every 20 seconds once the buff has a full stack?
You should cast a Flash heal before the buff ends. Never let those 5 stacks run out.
Yep, you have 20 seconds from the last time you cast flash heal before you have to cast flash heal again. That’s why Surge of Light is such a great talent to pair with FC since it lets you stockpile instant flash heals for use later.
Also, while it’s great practice to maintain full stacks for say, a raid environment where you’re spot healing for 6 minutes straight… don’t obsess too much on keeping 5 stacks of flash heal up all the time if you’re not expecting to be intensively spot healing (like a raid or a high M+).
You usually don’t need 5 full stacks and with, say, Apotheosis you have other options for burst spot healing if it’s not going to be a longer fight.
use flash heal 5 times before fights begin. Flash again after 10 secs to refresh buff.

I’m using heal more and more.
Note. If you let your FC buff drop in M+, it’s not that big of a deal. Just try to get the 5 stacks ready to go during a big pull or moment… you will want that extra healing and speed from Heal.
But “never” hard cast Heal… too damn slow.

I must be the minority. I run double PI leggo. I’m 215 ilevel with 10% crit 15% haste and like 12% mastery. Not great for holy priest but I was able to do 12’s all day with no real issue and only using heal when everything is calm. Almost never use it because of cast time. Flash concentration is great for pure healing but I like to do some damage lol
Just curious about your damage. What is your ilevel, the key levels you are mainly running, and what kind of damage are you doing on boss fights, and on entire runs. That’s in terms of dps, of course.
Get the weakaura addon and set it up so you can have a sound play when the stack is about to run out. I set my for when the buff gets to 6 seconds left it’ll play a sound to remind me to cast it.
Yeah, using too many flash heals is a waste of mana. Cast those 5 flash heals for stacks before fight, drink, fight starts. Tip: you can bank surge of flight procs to an extent. So sometimes I’ll use one to refresh FC stacks, get on the heal bot train and then use the second proc before FC/the proc wear off. Sometimes the dmg doesn’t allow it but you can definitely master timing the usage vs. productive heals.
In mythic + and mythic CN I’ve been messing around witH my holy/FC and heal and echo of light (mastery) are my top heals with serenity after.
